Do you think guys and girls (or vice-versa) can be friends?

Explain yourself if you choose the 3rd option.
I personally think maybe because,if the guy/girl has the minimum ammount of attraction to their friend, that could prejudice the friendship.

Yes. 34

  • I think they can be friends, even with attraction.

Just because there's feelings of attraction doesn't mean you're destine to tear each others' clothes off and screw like rabbits any chance you get - most people have a lot more self-control than that. It's really not that difficult to manage.

I've never understood this question honestly. For most of my life I've had more guy than girl friends simply because it's hard to find girls who don't end up being weird and competitive.

We're all just people, why does it matter?

Absolutely not. I've always believed (or wanted to believe) the opposite, but the older I get the more obvious it is. And I'm not talking about the "friendzone" -this happens all the time. However there are about a million other reasons why males and females could and SHOULD share non-romantic interests and activities (like sports, hobbies and etc.) and be friendly with each other, but REAL friendship is NOT possible.

I think it's great when men and women are friends, but in my experience it never lasts once they become GOOD friends. Since a guy you enjoy the company of is a pretty much a potential mate if he isn't hideous or something.

in this society a very common phrase is used which is "girls and boys can never be friends" as their friendship always ends being something more than just friendship.. but i totally disagree.. i think yes they can be friends and even very good ones its just about intention and positivity in ones own mind... opposite sexes can interact in the same better way as two same genders and both can have a very deep understanding .... i have seen many such friends who have always been friends and only friends and their relations are so nice and inspiring...
in modern societies girls and boys should be friends for better socialization and better understanding of different social attitudes plus for more good social relations and to improve confidence level.....

Whilst most of my male friends always wanted relationships in the end *rolls eyes* I had a few male friends that never seemed to expand from friendship, and I think some opposite sex friendships can work out.

I'm attracted to most of my friends, male and female. But it isn't always a sexual attraction. They are my friends, something drew me towards them. And the better friends we become, the more beautiful they are. It doesn't mean I want to have sex with them. It just means I love them.

It depends, really. If there's emotional attraction, not for long. If there's physical attraction, it depends on the individuals and how they deal with that. I say for some people they can't just be friends, and for others it is possible.

  • I have grown up around females in social groups, so I know that males and females can just be friends.

  • Not really, it's always a little fake seeming.
