Do you think cereal with milk is considered a soup?

I was eating my cereal and I suddenly realized that cereal with milk can be considered a soup. Some of my friends agree while others disagree. What do you think? Comments to back your views are encouraged.

I would consider it a dessert soup if the cereal is sugary.

To me, soup is supposed to be savory.
    Cereal and milk?

Milk is technically a food, not a beverage, so basically you are having two foods.
And by definition, soup is made with a broth and usually has vegtables.

    soup

    soups, plural

       [seer-ee-uhl]

Cereal with milk is just cereal with milk. Soup involves a whole different context and category.

No, soup is cooked and goes through very different processes, some of which include cooking meats, noodles and rice, to name a few. Cereal is just fried or baked. Big diff. Look into how soup is made, and how cereal is made, and you'll have your answer. Besides, cereal is dried grains and such, soup is not typically. VERY typically.

I think that yea cereal should be considered as a soup dessert because it does seem like soup but sweet because of the liquid and particles floating on it.

I used to think of this.

It could be, but I said no.

Although there are cold sweet soups.

So no I don't see cereal as soup.

    This never occurred to me.

I guess so, but it would depend on how much milk it's in. If the cereal is practically drowning then it would be a soup. If not than it would just be a bit of a sauce.
