Do you take prescription psychiractric medication?

Im curious how many people are currently prescribed and take psych meds. Personally Im taking 5 currently and am wondering how common that is. Do not include non prescription meds such as fish oils, multivitamins, melatonin, or other non prescribed over the counter medicines.

no 50
yes just one prescription 16
yes 2-3 prescriptions 17
yes 4-5 prescriptions 4
yes 6+ prescriptions 5

  • I take Trazadone for sleep, which is technically an anti-depressant...Also I have taken SSRI antidepressants in the past (for anxiety not depression. SSRIs treat anxiety and other disorders too. Also depression often stems from anxiety and other disorders)

      • Yeah its awesome, works better than any other non-narcotic sleep aid I've taken. Obviously benzos and opiates and shit work really well but I dont like all the side effects. But I've accumulated quite the tolerance to trazodone, two weeks in and I already have to take 1.5 times the prescription dose to get the same effect.

I forgot to add: There's albuterol, flovent which got replace with quvar, but I haven't needed to take those in a awhile. If I took Albuterol with Flovent, I'd often feel very ill (nauseous, stomach ache, etc.) afterwards.

I stopped taking medication awhile ago. When I was younger, I put on a curious margarita of something that started with a "Z", that was a spray that went up my nose, a little blue pill (Adderal?), and I think a little coral coloured pill. I believe these were supposed to be for the ADHD, that I know believe that I was misdiagnosed and some other lies. I stopped taking it when I had a nightmare that bled it's way into reality and I couldn't function in my catholic school.

Then years later, I was put on a "anti-anger" medication that was in liquid form. Things were going fine for a awhile until I started hearing voices in my head. I used to hear voices in my head when I was a small child, but I never treated for that and I had them under control awhile before I was on that drug. Anyway, the voices kept telling me to rip my eyes out which thankfully I didn't! My mother tried to gradually lessen my dosage, but it didn't help things so I went cold turkey on it. When saw my psychiatrist and she specially told him that she didn't want me on any more medication. Yet, that prick was still trying to push it on me.

Sometime last year, I put on Visteril (is that how it's spelled) for my ancient and a anti-histamine. I wasn't aware of the dangerous side-effects and as a result I know have a severe salt sensitivity. Basically, I can't consume anything form of added salt except sodium citrate. If I get anything else I'll have a severe allergic reaction and possibly go into analphylatic (I know it's spelled wrong) shock and possibly die. I also can't eat fish anymore. Another thing, is that it's good that I got off of it when I did because at that point was starting to form a dependency on it. It was causing me so many health issues that I didn't realize the truth until it was too late.

I also took Xanax every once in a while for doctors appointments. I don't like Xanax and there's nothing "gentle" about it. The last time I took it, I took about 3 so I could get my blood drawn. The effects "fully" kicked in until about after I had given blood. It made me loopy and on all occasions made it very hard for me to go to sleep. I'd feel tired, but I just couldn't sleep and it was so frustrating!

As mentioned above, I no longer take medication and I'm strongly against it for obvious reasons. I now take herbal medicine.
