    • OK, but anyway - if you had to choose, would you say that supporting equal rights is more in line with supporting feminism or with disagreement with it?

  • No, because feminism makes women look weak. They can fight their own battles just like a man has to, that's equality. Most strong women are not feminists for this reason, they are aware of the embarrassment that is feminism. The "feminazis" are mostly made up of insecure dykes whom can't understand that EVERYONE needs equality, it's not about "us Vs them". They're useless in the eyes of anyone with atleast a moderate understanding of society. The women who don't join that cause and instead make a good life on their own merits are the strong ones. Both men and women get treated unfairly in this day and age, feminism is redundant at best and a complete joke at worst.

    I like to say I'm an anti-feminist. (female - under 20)

I believe in a traditional woman, one who cleans and cooks, loyal and does not complain, dresses and behaves modestly. Unfortunately, it's becoming harder and harder to find these kind of girls.

Equal rights with working is ignorant, men are stronger than women and can do some jobs better. That's just a fact.

Equal rights come with equal responsibility and accountibility. My idea of feminism includes those ideas rather than pure "women's rights". Feminism in our society has turned to crap. Go to India where women are still being irrefutibly repressed and start your movement there. That's where feminists are really needed, not to stay here and coddle little girls who couldn't woman up enough to take responsibility for their actions. Yes, I understand that not all feminists are like that, but the ones that are put this group to shame.

Absolutely not. As a girl I hate feminists who think women have a right to collect child support after they trick a man into a baby but a man doesnt have the same rights. Feminists take away men's rights in their zeal for equality because they dont understand equality means equal.

Yes. Women are strong, we can do anything a man can (theoretically) and we have the same rights as any man. I suppose growing up in a home full of women where I was the protector and the bread bringer gives reason for my views. Aside from opening jars, I haven't yet come across anything in my life that made me stand back and say "gee i need a man's help here"

Yes, in the sense that I agree with what I personally would define feminism as. Different people have different ideas about what feminism is, and of course I don't agree with all those people.

I believe in equality. More precisely, equality of outcome as opposed to equality of opportunity (although that's still very broad). And, if you consider feminism to be a movement for equality (as I do), then feminism is one part of egalitarianism.

    • "I believe in equality. More precisely, equality of outcome as opposed to equality of opportunity."
Equality of outcome? Do you mean that you would want the equal percentage of men and women in every area of life? How would an ideal society look then when the percentage of men and women was eqaul in everything?
      construction workers - 50 : 50
      giving birth - 50 : 50
      child custody - 50 : 50
      homeless people - 50 : 50
      imprisoned people - 50 : 50
      football players - 50 : 50
This seems totally ridiculous and here are some of the reasons why I think so:
      1. there are some biological differences between the sexes which rule out equal outcome - there will never be equal percentage of men and women who give birth to a child; men are stronger and hence are more "suitable" for professions which require strength and it is nonsense to want 50 : 50 gender distribution in those job (in case of complete equality the law should also redefine the weight of load they may be required to lift)
      2. there are often differences between men and women in what they themselves want - hence it is ridiculous to insist f.e. on the equal percentage of men and women who play football - if only a few women were interested in that, what would you do? - abolish playing football for the rest of males?
I have mentioned only a few reasons why I think that the complete equality of outcome is nonsense but I hope it is enough for you to know what I mean.

      • Moreover, the differences in outcome may not always be a result of discrimination. Unequal outcome may be due to other factors such as different skills, interests etc. For example, when people with IQ = 65 don't study at a university, it is not because they have different rights but because they are naturally disadvantaged because of their intelligence. Similarly, when there is lower percentage of construction workers or football players among women than among men, it is not because they have different rights, but because they generally differ (on average) in strength and interest in playing football.

I think feminists have taken "equality" too far. They seem to think that to be equal to men, they must be men. Just my opinion, but there is a ton of power in femininity, which I think is misjudged as weak and inferior.

Feminism is an uneasy necessary annoyance that comes with breaking down the walls of stereotyping and ignorance. The part about feminism I hate is the ignorant programming in me that I have to try to untangle every day and that's a pain!
