    In my state you get $175 monthly if you're a single unemployed person. You can claim 3 months out of 3 years unless you volunteer for their program. What they don't tell you is virtually nobody works with their program.

    I am not on food stamps.

    My mom can't work because of her epilepsy so, yeah... But her fiance has a good job, so we should be off in a few months.

    Food banks and church would be my first resort, I wouldn't apply for food stamps unless it was absolutely necessary.

    In Australia you can easily google the rate various situations will get paid.. Why not do that rather then ask here.
    Interesting note: when I did this I found out an unemployed bum gets more a week then a full time student... So I think the system needs to be fixed..

      I agree with full time college students should be able to receive food stamps than unemployed bums. As far as I am considered, if a person is unemployed, they should either NOT receive food stamps (because they are not paying income taxes) or should be required to do jury duty, community service, etc.
