Do you put anything into your dreams, or are they just dreams to you?

I had a dream where it was revealed to me that when I was younger I used to see a man that would rape and molest me that was also completely and utterly obsessed with me. My family would allow me to spend time with him because he was a man that had the power to make your life a living hell. It was a very disturbing dream.

I'm not sure it was just a dream... or if my subconscious is trying to tell me something?

What would you think, and how do you feel in general about the dreams that you have?

I put nothing into my dreams, they're just dreams. 22
I put complete faith into my dreams, and I think you should as well. 8
It depends on the dream. 47

  • dreams can be memories in different form, a feeling or vision that has roots somewhere

While asleep your brain seems to create random images and ideas, because it needs to remain active. I pay no particular heed to dreams, they never actually FORESEE anything.

  • I think dreams sometimes reveal a part of your subconscious and/or they can be a premonition so I always try to remember and analyse mine.

  • 99.99% of the dreams you have are just dreams; they mean nothing.

I think most dreams have some sort of meaning behind them. I always try to think where things could have come from. There are dream dictionaries online that seem to help piece together things that happen, as strange as they may seem. From my experience, they make sense.

I dream a lot about my childhood residence.. It's something I'd rather not remember nightly, it truly haunts me. There was a lot of trauma that went on at that location and there are definitely unresolved emotions about what did happened. I fear it will never go away.. it's been 6 years since I've lived there.

I think dreams are important, it's your thoughts and things you've picked up on.

What you dream may not happen, or may have never happened; but they always show what you're thinking and feeling.

The brain often exaggerates dreams, so I wouldn't trust them.

Dreams sort through our memmories and they can warn us of dangers that are coming. This man seems to be a power that will threten you and change your life in bad ways a power that seems no one can say "No" but this "No" is for you to say not anyone else, your parents not stoping him means you haven't spoken out againt him or told someone this is going on.

If a dream about being an apprentice to some psychotic, demon, serial killer clown who tries to kill me for masturbating is telling me something, then I obviously cannot see it.

I think dreams are VERY significant (sometimes- you can feel a difference between nonsense dreams and significant ones) but they are symbolic. They are not always totally accurate. It's usually impossible to know the real meaning until after it has been revealed to you in your waking life.

I agree. I have dreams then i have very lucid very real dreams that are sharp, clear and detailed and its like going from a nintendo 64 to a PS3 and these lucid dreams are like little video video clips of what is going to happen. They always do end up happening just like in the dream word for word thought for thought.

Overall, I sit back and enjoy the show! I've only had one dream that was a complete psychic experience, and of course I didn't really KNOW it untill after the event played out. I did, however, heed the dream. It was spooky and awesome.

I love my dreams. They are terrifying, always. I took a medication, Risperidone, and it gave me happy dreams, it completely took away my terrifying dreams. I HATED it, I stopped taking the med because I didn't feel OK without my nightmares. My counselor thought that was insane.

There's an old Roman story about two friends, one who stays at an inn, and another at a friend's house. The latter dreams about his friend telling him that the innkeeper has killed him, and that he should come. The guy wakes up and tells himself its only a dream. Yet when he goes back to sleep, his friend reappears and tells him that his body is hidden under some dung in the city. Sure enoug, when his friend goes into the city he next day, he finds his friend in the spot, dead, and punishes the innkeeper. Just a warning. :)
