WTF @ the people who say "arnt". What is that? Why? It's like arse. Ugh, it annoys me so much. It's ass, AAASS.
I pronounce it as awnt, but whenever I see me aunt I always call her by her name. Same thing for my uncle. I don't know why, I hear that you shouldn't address them simply by their name, but instead as Aunt [insert Name] or Uncle [Insert Name] but I never have done that. Maybe I'm weird? Hmm.
I'm white, therefore I say "ant" but I really can't judge someone for pronouncing a words a certain way.
ant and if i had a granddad i would call him grandpa i wish i could see a picture of my grandpa but nobody has any of him, i have one blood uncle and alot of half blooded uncles on my moms side of the family but i have more Indian blood in me than white because of the color of my skin.
family i don't see alot i call them by their names because they are not like my family they don't act like family on my moms and dads side of the family even know me and my dads brother argue alot he is still blood and thats it.
I pronounce it the same way that most people would say aren't [as in the word!]
I however, refer to them as Aunt[ie]/Aunt and their name.
I sometimes say it both ways. It just depends, I guess.
Never heard of "arnt" though, pretty... interesting. xD
haha why do you add in the 'r" where there is none--do you say "George WaRshington" and " hanRdbag?"
cause I know some people who do.
dont understand it myself...
'ant.
I call my aunt "mothers sister". For an example if she visits me I would say hi mothers sister! How are you?
Most people are somewhere on the scale between Awnt and Ant but my accent goes right past Ant and carries on sailing until it sounds like a dull thud of a word. Same as flan and milan. I say both of them quickly and with no vowel sounds whatsoever.
How does one pronounce the apostrophe in "An'"? I assume with a glottal stop?
Hehe, bang on. But then you've probably got a similarish accent to mine. Hmm, unless you've picked up any Sheila.
No I haven't actually. I'm sure the Aussy accent is the hardest in the world. I can't even do an impression of it. Not that I am very good at other accents, but I don't know where to start with this one!
