Do you prefer having music in a physical or digital format?

Physical, I like physical aspects like the cover art and lyric booklet 22
Physical, it makes me feel like I "own" my music collection 19
Physical, I just like it that way 4
Depends on the band, I'm more likely to get physical if I'm a big fan 34
Physical if there's some kind of bonus/limited edition, digital if not 2
Digital, it doesn't take up space on my shelf and CDs are annoying 35
Digitial, I don't pay for music 55
Digital, I just like it that way 8
Actually having a music collection is for hipsters, I only stream 6

I only buy music from artists that aren't already rich. And when I do buy, I figure CDs are better because you can import them in a lossless audio format. Also you get the physical artwork/CD which is nice.

Digital for me. But some CD covers can be interesting.

There's something nice about owning something and being able to hold it in your hand but I'm trying not to buy anything non-digital. Particularly books.

Just space. I have a wall of books as it is. When I moved house, there was something like fourteen or fifteen boxes just of books. It's kind of inconvenient. I wish Amazon would take them back, give me the Kindle versions, and then they can keep anything they make from reselling them.

You don't have to sell them on the internet, sell them at a car booth sale or donate some to the library. There's no way you're going to re-read every last one, just keep the ones that made a significant impact on your life.

Oh yeah, and if you don't want to donate them to the library there's always charity shops

For me, it's a combination of the first two poll options.

There's just something about owning physical copies that makes the whole thing seem more real and tangible.

I DO having tons of musical files, seeing as it's convenient. However, if CD's were cheaper and they were more convenient, you better you bet I'd have the physical copies over digital ones.

Man, it saddens me how many people say they don't pay for music...

I do like aspects of owning the music physically, but honestly it's not worth it when I can carry thousands of songs around with me wherever I go.

I have a few CD's but most of the time I just listen to the songs I synced to my MP3 player.

  • I just pay for music if I really like the band... also I only use my iPod or TV for listening to music so digital is the only way^^

Digital - it's cheaper and takes up less space.

plus it's easier to gift music to others that way
