Do you play the lottery?

Do you or have you ever played the lottery?

Personally, I have not. I am broke and the chances of winning are astronomical so it's better for me to just put my money into things that have a better chance of working in my favor, like gas to go to work or bills or what not. I don't like spending my money unless I know I'm getting something in return, I've never even been to a casino, haha.

Explain why you have or have not ;) All answers appreciated!

I have a strange relationship with lottery. I play it when I've had enough of work and want a way out, even while knowing that winning ten million or something would, in the end, make me unhappy and ruin my life.

I play for the hope of a medium-sized prize. If I won a thousand, I could use half for bills, but also use the other half for a real luxury like a holiday. If I won five thousand, same deal but I'd have the luxury of a savings account. If I won twenty-five thousand, I could use it as a deposit on a house. But if I won more than a million, I would immediately give most of it away before it ruined my life and then used what was left as my little luxury.

I think the most I ever won was about a hundred and, prior to that, eighty. Everything else has just been ten here and there. I haven't played for quite a while. I sometimes do when the prize gets up to 150 million or something, and then the odds (or expectation) favours the player.

Occasionally, usually only if I have a couple dollars change from buying gas or whatever. I only buy scratch offs, maybe twice a month? I usually win more than I spend. Usually it's like $20 or $40 that I win. If I was losing all the time, I'd definitely quit!! I don't expect to win big, honestly, I just do it for fun and it usually pays off. People who play and 'need' to win or expect to win probably won't so I don't even think about it like that, like it's my destiny or something!! That's trouble!!

I hate when I get stuck behind those people who come in to the store religiously and but a ton of lotto tickets. It's sad and annoying! Oh and some of them are so superstitious and get nasty if anything or anyone interrupts them buying their stack of tickets!! Man they can be vicious!!

Yep, many a time have I gone into a gas station to pay for gas (cash prices are cheaper around here) just to get stuck in line behind some dude who probably needs his money buying 10-15 scratchers and only winning $5. Or playing power balls or what ever it's called.

We had the largest mega millions jackpot in California history the other week. My buddy and I tried to go to the local 7/11 to get some snacks and the lines at all of the convenient stores looked like they were selling the cure for cancer, haha.

What's the lottery? Do you mean a revolver to my head with one bullet? Yeah I do that every day.

I won $640 million in the Mega Millions Lottery... Well I would have if I would have just had 5 more numbers right. I did have one number right and won $7. But I spent $20... So I lost $13, damn it.

Question one: Why were you in my bathroom?

Question two: Who the hell are you?

Also, I spent that $7 on lunch on the way home.

I've got no choice but to play lottery as I have set numbers and I'd never risk not playing and my numbers coming out. xx

I do not partake in the lottery. The lottery here is just a scam anyway. The Arkansas scholarship lottery doesn't support me, so I don't support it either. I have bought a few lottery tickets for someone else before though, because they asked me to buy them when I was running some errands.

I get angry when someone gives me scratches instead of the money to buy them, Quote from family guy it's a tax on dumb people :)

  • I did play when I turned 18 just for the heck of it though, oh I also did the record lotto from a few weeks ago. But every christmas it's a tradition to play the scratchers.

That's what I was nervous about. I was like "What if they think it's fake?" I always looked a lot younger than my age. Ha.

I buy my friends scratch cards to include in their Christmas and birthday cards but I've yet to ask anyone if they've won anything.

I have also bought the odd lottery ticket if I've had the change but... I never check them and they are too far out of date for me even to cash if I did win.

I feel that I have enough money to do me and would end up with a lot of false 'friends' that I wouldn't want if I did win, so that's why I rarely ever buy a ticket - maybe one a year.

  • I dont really play but I have been givin scratch offs. I think the highest I've ever won would be $5. I dont like to play because I dont think I have the luck to win. If my chances are slim in something I dont bother to waste my time because I know the outcome might be disappointing. My mom plays sometimes and when she loses it just makes my resolve stronger that this is a waste of time. The sad part is supposedly I have a lucky hand.

  • Rarely, but when I don't play and I watch the lottery on TV, the annoying thing which sometimes happens is that some of my numbers appear and I'd kinda flip out knowing that I could have won some money.

When I was a kid, my family would get me scratch offs. I never won anything high. It usually around 5$ or less.

I voted, I have played scratch-off in the past, but I probably will sometime play it in the future, too. It's just that I only play it inconsistently (like once every few years or a few times in a month). I guess that means that you could change my vote to the second option.
