When you're swimming in a pool and need to take a leak, do you hold in your piss until you go to the bathroom? Or do you just piss in the pool?

It is not a particularly good practice. Assuming the chlorine is doig its proper job and all of the chemical levels are just perfect in the pool, there is no risk that one will take. If however the chlorine is out of specification just slightly or if the pH is off, it can allow the survival of more robust microorganism in the water.
Now it will not be serious but I have heard that one can get a bladder infection from urinating in the pool because the natural valves in the urethra cannot close as easily while in the water, versus out of it. (Viscosity of water versus air.) This can sometimes cause some of the pool water to become trapped in the urethra and that can cause a bladder infection.
If this is a habit, then it will be a habit in a lake or ocean. And lake and ocean water do have microorganisms in it. It is just best to get out and go use the washroom. The thought of swimming through other's piss is not particularly appealing either.
i pity those people that go to the washroom to take a piss before getting in the pool...
that's an easy waste of 2 minutes and walking around on the deck drowned it spit :/

All the time, I swim for college and interrupting a set for a bathroom break is a big no no. Everyone does it, no big deal. It's great when the pool is really cold ;)
just get out of the water you piss monkey! it's bad enough when you don't have a bathroom close now not going just because you don't feel like it... you should have a golden shower by r. kelly

everyone does it at some point...unless you are some kind of ocd-ridden Mr monk.
My wife always pees in pools, but if there's a mens shower or dressing room near I'd rather piss there.

For some reason I always have to pee regularly when I'm in the pool (like every 20-30 minutes), don't know if it's water absorption or psychological but I just slow down what I'm doing and relax.
not since i got a urinary tract infection.
it is more of a health risk to the pisser than it is to other swimmers.
also sittin in wet gear also leaves you vulnerable to UTI's
you should change into dry shorts asap after swimming
it is more of a health risk to the pisser than to other swimmers. whether it is chlorinated or not piss is so diluted in that much water that it is a non issue to others. humans can drink urine to save their own lives in a survival situation. it poses no health risk
to the pisser however, the urethra can be opened for an unnatural duration and the upward flow of waterto the bladder can cause urinary tract infections making urination painful. even sitting in wet trunks for extended periods can cause it.
to be clear....its not even the piss itself, but the act of pissing that causes the overexposure by opening he urethra while submerged.

as a pool owner i can only say that it does affect the chemical balance.
and as someone who has pissed in the pool and has had a urinary tract infection (they aren't fun!) dont do it.
sure its a drop in the bucket but you know its wrong so just show a little respect or dont expect to get ivited back
I only did once, but when I did I hurried and jumped out and went into the FREEZING kiddie section for about 30 minutes. It only takes about 2 minutes for kids to get used to the cold water in there though, but kids these days have been wimpies and would run out as soon as they got in. But anyway after a long time I went back in. But I only did it once, and I thought it was disgusto!!!
And anyway, why do you think some pools are so warm?? JK JK Haha :P
Yes, I piss in the pool :) However, I don't like to be gross and make it a ritual practice, lol, so I always try to pee before I go into the pool, but I always end up having to take a leak numerous times while I'm in the pool. And I don't feel like getting up to go into the bathrooms, so, I just let it out..
Only ONCE! And that was because my swim coach wasn't letting me go to the restroom :(
