Do you miss anything from your childhood?

If so, what is it? For me it's riding my bike with my sister to areas of town we should not have went to, playing pokemon card games with the neighborhood kids, and spending hours playing video games. How about you people?

I'll get the downer bit out of the way first,

The sense of innocence, the feeling that the world is a positive place and that people are inherently good.

I miss marble bars, I miss old friends and I miss it being socially acceptable To lie on the floor of your home, it's pretty comfortable, I can't count the Times we have family or guests over and I have the urge to lay facing the tv on the floor of the living room, like a slob.

I sometimes lay on the floor at my office. If I do that at home I get tackled by a toddler. But you should be able to lay on any surface of your home that you desire.

I'm not sure. Almost everything was worse then. I was a shitty kid. I wasn't sweet and innocent and naive. I was anxious and paranoid and awkward and alien and fearful all the time. In my mid-teens I began to get a little better, even though every step felt impossible, and then boom here I am now: much happier in every way. I'm still awkward and anxious, but I love myself. I'm really proud of who I am now :)

So no, I don't miss much. I wouldn't be who I am with the things I have lost. Like, I miss playing Spyro the Dragon on the PlayStation 1 with my little brother but I don't miss deciding to play video games all the time because I feel too scared to leave the house :P

I miss being able to lie down flat on my parent's sofa, staring at the ceiling, and have the top of my head and the soles of my feet squeeze perfectly inside the arms at the end of the sofa, as if my body was a row of books that fit exactly into a bookcase. I had been waiting to be that tall for a long time, and I knew once I had got tall enough that soon I would be too tall. Being at the Goldilocks height was cool :)

I miss having summers off to play.

    Pomegranate seed spitting contests.

    My childhood dogs.

    Chasing ducks

Picking fruit off the neighbors trees and eating it.

Riding my bike to the top of the big hill, feeling a great sense of accomplishment, then coasting down.

and some other things, but those come to mind first

Ballet lessons, having lots of different pets, playimg with my dog, Diamond, picking up bugs, going shopping with mom, playing catch with my dad, going on long bike rides with my dad, eating fried chicken after Mass on Saturdays, having lots of energy, being able to eat whatever I want and not gaining any weight, etc.

oh yeah one more thing about the halloween, yeah its still around today but at my age and out here, halloween is about "sexy outfits" and partying

I miss the REAL halloween I admired as a child: genuine spooks, innocent frights at "ghosts", and everything associated with it

    Not worrying about bills

Running to my elementry school basement bathroom because of ghost rumors lmao

Actually spending time with my family at partys/trips/beaches etc

Finding a loose screw in my bike, fliping it completely over just to tighten it, and feeling like a mechanic

    Buying toys

I could probably make a smaller list of things I dont miss lol

    • I think almost every elementary school has that "haunted" bathroom. The girls bathroom in my elementary was rumored to be haunted by Bloody Mary herself. Nobody liked to shit in there alone lol.

A lot actually, I was born in '95, so I'm 19 as of now. I remember mostly cartoons -- I won't bag on all the cartoons now, but most of them suck. I had Ed, Edd, and Eddy; Billy and Mandy; Rug rats; Hey Arnold; Courage the Cowardly Dog and more, it was awesome. Also I missly the subtlety in everything. Back then getting a phone (even a Nokia) was a big deal. My first system was an Nintendo 64, I had 007 and Super Mario, I nearly lost my shit. Nothing seems like a big deal now though. I see kids when I was their age who have iPhones, PS4s, and flat screen TVs (back before when I had to turn nobs and had no remote) it just seemed things had to be worked for, now it's almost handed.

When my cousins would come over to my grandparents house.. We would play with our beanie babies and American girl dolls.. We used to write letters to each other (they lived in another state) and we would also make our beanie babies and dolls write letters to each other lol. They would be on tiny pieces of paper included in the envelope, and sometimes we would make little gifts for them to send each other like picture frames, purses, necklaces, etc. all small enough to fit them (I still have those letters and some of my beanie babies are still wearing their necklaces). Now when I go over to that house even though its empty and there's crap everywhere just seeing the basement or laundry room (where we played) at nighttime with the lights on gives me a great nostalgic feeling.. Just in general I miss being able to be weird without being questioned or shunned and being able to make fun and games out of anything.

I miss the chance at childhood growth I didn't have. I guess I'm a little glad my parents are batshit crazy only because I will never do all the things they did that severely the growth of both myself and my siblings. I miss the very early days when we had enough money for their pride and disgusting qualities to show. I miss my friends. I miss my kick ass teachers. I miss doing extracuricular singing stuff. Performing. Most of all I miss being deeply, ignorantly, irritatingly happy.

I miss not caring about my appearance. I just had fun and didn“t give a s.h.i.t if I looked pretty or ugly or whatever.

I miss all the constructive misbehavior. Paramilitary technology for amateurs, and reading military manuals. We would call the cops on ourselves and use military evasion tactics to get away from them. Obstruction of justice was our favorite Saturday night game. And best of all was under-aged social drinking.

Don't reminisce for days gone by as you can never really know if they are truly any better than the ones being experienced today.

Memories are accessed vicariously and function much the same way as a propaganda reel.

Its recollection of events are distorted at best.
