I've been around a few years. This site has seen its ebbs and flows. The (somewhat) recent changes brought about some real emotions that sent some away. Others left long before that.

It's been asked before, but I think it's worth asking every few months. Things change quickly on the internet.

There are several that I miss. I'm not going to name them unless asked (if I get enough input and if anyone cares), but they really brought out some passion, good or bad, and made this a place worth visiting.

Others? Not so much ;)

I'm surprised no-one mentioned flutterhigh. He and dappled usually come up the most on these.

Loads of them, but life moves on. There have been lots of good people here, but we should not deify their memory. Lots of the users already mentioned here were complicated people with significant flaws (and not cute, romantic flaws which make them "perfectly imperfect"). I'm not saying I wish I never knew them (in some cases I am very glad I have), or that they didn't affect me too (they did), but they are not worthy of your idolization and if they were here they would say so themselves.

    The reason he usually gave in public was that he felt threatened by the polarized attention he got on IIN and believed that if he stayed any longer someone would invade his privacy and successfully discover his real world identity. He didn't feel secure in his anonymity. I think (with no direct disrespect to him) that that is a very simplified, reductive version of a bigger story, and even if I told you the details I know it wouldn't be a complete enough story to be worth reading.

I will be brutally honest... No.

There are some people around now that I want to stick around (I probably shouldn't list them), but nobody who has left really made an impression on me.

Perhaps that's because I try to avoid emotionally engaging with the community too much - It's hard enough to maintain a social life offline, let alone multiple ones online.

I'm not sure how much longer I'll stick around either, frankly. I feel like I've said most of what I wanted to say, and now I'm just repeating myself (or taking the piss). I use this site as a novel distraction but I think I need a new one! :)

        Well most users have come back, and the ones that didnt, didn't really make themselves known anyway they didn't stay around very long is what I mean.
        
        I didn't know either of those, but there name still stays, so therefore always an iiner :))

Yeah. Dappled was awesome. There was also a guy named Captain Kaigstand that used to come on here. That guy was awesome. There's a few people I miss. I don't even think anime7 comes on here anymore. It's sad :'(

There are many users that I miss and whose time I appreciated.

(I'll come back and make another comment to list them.)

I can't think of any users that are gone and I am relieved about their going... Then again, just one but, he was a creep.

Without an ounce of hesitation, Dappled. We were not close but he is by far the wisest user I've 'met' here. That guy is not human. This site needs Dappled.

Dappled is the first to come to mind. He really contributed a lot.

Valkeer and nobelserpent (I think they were the same)

Obscurereason/TheGhostofReason bordered on being intense sometimes, but insightful, intelligent, and caring

Wigsplits was irrationally intense but entertaining.

I've seen Angel_in_a_glass_dress pop in a couple of times, but I think we lost her and her open-mindedness.

Terryvie was one I could really relate to in a lot of ways.

I'm sure there are more, and I'll slap my forehead when I think of them, but those are the first few to come to mind.

Dappled has become somewhat of a legend on this site, I'm sure he once said he lived near to where I live, I might of met him in real life and not known it. I'll tell you who I don't miss, that guy who corrected everyone's grammar , he got on my tits so much I nearly deleted my account.
