Do you miss an old friend?

I miss my friend a lot. We don't talk anymore but I still think about them almost every day. It's not likely I will ever hear from them again but I wonder if they ever miss me like I miss them.

Is there a {living} friend you are missing? Do you think they know you miss them? Do you wonder if they miss you too?

I miss my friend. They miss me too. 11

Kind of. I don't think I've ever broken up with a friend, we've just drifted apart (usually with me drifting away). While there are some friends I miss, I wouldn't want to be friends with them again because I'm just bad at friendship. I'm happier on my own and always have been. There are great times I miss with old friends. Hanging out for hours in a tiny small room with Doritos playing video games I sucked at and occasionally ones I was good at. Going to the field and climbing rocks, playing football, watching the world. But I cut ties for a reason and that reason was because the good times were never worth the constant over-bearing anxiety that comes with close friendship. The good times were only good with the benefit of hindsight - at the time they never even felt that great.

My current friends are good; probably among the best I've ever had. They're the most diverse and the largest group. I'm the newest addition to the group, and being not especially social integrating myself is very difficult. We have genuine fun though, and I will look back on those friendships with genuine happiness.

I guess I miss my friends, but I also love my own company more than anyone else's. If I wasn't so good - and so practiced - at being on my own, I think I'd miss them more.

  • Yes, very much so. I still chat with him and play Xbox live with him, though.

best friend I have ever had, if not the only one I considered a friend. We both were different people before we met. Once we started to get to know each other, we started realizing things we liked to do, which aren't exactly moral things, but it's what we liked.

I moved away a few years ago, and it has been boring for me ever since.

I don't think so. The vast majority of my friendships end in us drifting apart, on good terms. It's just the natural end to a friendship, given that we're drifting apart because we're moving on in our lives. I had excellent best friends as a child, they made my childhood a happy one, but I don't miss them. They were perfect for me at that period in my life, and I bet we'd still get on , but there are other people who are perfect for me *now*, and those are the people I'm friends with. I'm sure that we'll grow distant too, and we'll all move on to new friends who are perfect for us at that point in our lives.

That said, when me and all my friends go off to Uni and a bunch of other places, I think I'll end up missing them quite a lot. Although, that one feels more like a forced separation rather than drifting apart. I think I'll be sad moving on from the friends I have now, if that's how the friendships go, as I think it will. Although, there's a few of them who I think are going to stick around in my life for a while:).

So, sort of. Most of my friendships I can look back at and have happy memories, and I appreciate that they're in the past now.:) I only miss someone if there was no driftiness:P. But even then, I move on eventually; it's just harder.

Ha, I didn't even consider users on IIN. I do sort of miss a few users here, but then again, it's because they left rather than because they drifted away, so I guess it makes sense that I miss them.:)

Last time I saw my best friend was in kindergarten. Never saw her again. My other friend I saw in like fourth grade. My OTHER friend I see every day, but were not friends anymore.

  • I miss some friends I had, but I might be too melancholy, so I don't think they miss me too.

I don't know why but my friend would always lie to me and I never to her. I still miss her and she was still a good friend. I don't like myself but just for some reasonshe always agreed with me.

I maintained a friendship with a childhood friend for 40 years, but he got pissed because I couldn't go to his son's wedding, an hasn't spoke to me since. I miss him, but obviously he doesn't miss me. I think it was terribly unfair.

    • He likely does miss you but cannot swallow his pride long enough to contact you.

No, I don't think so, because my sister, whom he knew quite well, died in 2011, and I left him a massage. He called my mother with his condolences, but never called me.

No I'm not I just don't believe my old friends would ever think of me. I was still living with my dad then which wasn't a happy home life therefore I would always lie about things to get attention from everyone at school, in the end most of my friends just drifted away from me I don't blame them I hate the person I used to be
