Do you make lots of excuses?

When you are late, did something wrong, screwed something up and so on, and you have no real valid excuse, do you usually make up excuses and not admit anything or do you more often just admit you did wrong and be honest about what happened? Or do you do a combo and say you're sorry BUT follow the 'sorry' with an excuse?

I usually make excuses/place blame to cover my ass. 12
I usually admit I did wrong and am honest. 9
I usually do the combo of sorry plus excuses. 24

    Not really. If you want to grow as a human being you have to admit your faults.

    There is a difference between an excuse and a legitimate reason. I may have made a mistake, but if it wasn't my fault I won't be expected to take the blame. If it was a proverbial act of God, I refuse to let somebody else make me take responsibility, either. It pisses me off. I'll always tell the truth about reasons for my mistakes.

    I tell the truth every single time. I may not tell the exact truth, but I tell the truth. I may say that I overslept. I may not say the reason I overslept.

    I just tell them the truth. It isn't an excuse but a reason. "I'm late because kitty was being really cute and I didn't want to disturb him, so I missed the bus."

    Most people start off with an excuse, then if someone doesn't believe it they might try another one, until eventually there's nothing left to do but admit the truth. Unless you are a really good liar then you can stop at the first excuse.

    I'm late more often than I'd like to be but I always tell the truth. Its just silly not to.

    To be honest I can lie my ass off when it comes to that. I have quite a bad habit of being late to school and clearly I can't say that I'm late because I overslept or intentionally came late or it took long to get my hair right. So I'll come up with random shit just so I won't hear a lecture. Its funny though that when I do tell the truth (train/bus delay, diversions etc.) they don't believe me. I'm going to stop soon though....I'm trying to learn to take responsibility for being late.....

    ...but I believe I deserve an Oscar for some of the stuff I come up with...

        I will admit that some teachers know my game...which is why I've stopped really lying to them. Some honestly don't.
