How do you feel when people address you with a nickname instead of your proper name? This is assuming they have taken it upon themselves to address you by a name other than what you have been introduced by.
Example, if your name is Charles and they call you Chuck. I don't mean a nickname like "Tiny" or "Stinky".

I had a teacher who took it upon herself to give me a nickname. Not only did she shorten my first name but she added my middle name, so it ended up sounding French. Anyway, I hated it and I thought it was quite rude for her to do that.
My name is Marcus but people just call me Marc, I prefer Marcus but its their choice.
My dad when i was younger use to call me ikachu, now my stepdad calls me squid (ika=squid)
like my unle his name is james but we all call him jim or jimmy or jimbo :)
Very few of my friends call me Candy, but I enjoy being called something I'm opposite of. I'm the opposite of sweet. I like violence, even as a baby, and everyone thinks I'm such a happy little girly girl but on the inside I FEEL LIKE I'M ON FIRE AND BURNING FROM THE INSIDE SLOWLY UNTIL I CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE AND I CRACK FROM THE STUPID PRESSURE OF BEING UNAPPRECIATED AND UNDERESTIMATED!!! There's no nickname for my name, so people always have to call me things like "Tiny" or whatever.
My name is Michael and some people call me Mikey, Pillow (WTF?!?! lol), but people mostly call me by my real name.
I'd rather be called by my nickname than my real name is it's in the family. In public, nobody has a nickname for me.
But I absolutely HATE when people give themsleves nicknames. They're so goddamn stupid.
My sister and all her retarded "rocker" friends give themselves those really retarded tagger names. Coco and Hydro and Abyss or some stupid crap like that. Grow up!
you don't have to be a kid to have fun if they like to give themselves nicknames then i think they have the right to do it. besides if it irritates you don't listen.

I have my rules - if they are friends they call me by a shortened version of my name. If I have just met them or I don't like them no way can they do that haha what an anal botch

I've been called by two different nicknames my entire life, except by my dad and my high school friends who use my real name.
The problem is that my friends call me with the nick I use online. If other people hear me being called that, they might get a bit confused.
I like most of the random nick name people give me. One exception, but that's a long story.
My name is Jessica but I have so many nicknames that no one ever calls me by my real name like Jess,J,JJ,J-bird,Jessy,etc.
