I HATE Itchy and Scratchy. I can't even believe it's on The Simpsons! The episode I saw today there was a dog chained up in a court and the mouse was the judge. There were about 10 cats saying the dog needed to be punished for crimes against animals. The dog proceeded to get shot multiple times and blood poured graphically out of the holes. Then some-one filled a glass with the blood and drank it then some-one came along and cut the dogs tongue out.

It's just horrible. I can't believe Bart and Lisa find it so funny, I wish it wasn't in The Simpsons.

I also hate the horror of Itchy and Scratchy 255

    I think it's wonderful. It's obviously overblown and over the top, but it's supposed to be. Just like Tom and Jerry was. That's how you know it's a joke and not to be taken seriously.

    And the episode where Itchy and Scratchy were taken off the air because of their violence, and then reintroduced being nice to each other was The Simpsons at its cleverest.

        It's probably my favourite! Either that or Wile E. Coyote. Anything that makes us laugh without a single word being spoken is good stuff. I wish I could do that!

          Yeah I know right...thats how you know when something is genuinely funny - they don't have to say anything but you're in tears from laughter. That just goes to show how good those writers are too :) Oooo Wile E. Coyote was simply amazing. I would rush home everyday after school to watch it. =D

            Family Guy did a version too. I like Family Guy but it's very poor compared to the original.

    I consider Itchy & Scratchy over the top parody of tasteless and/or politically incorrect cartoons that I grew up on. So, I love it.

    Itchy and Scratchy was a work of genius, a perfect parody. It is the symbol of how great The Simpsons used to be, when it was still edgy and original. I remember growing up, and my parents wouldn't let me watch episodes with Itchy and Scratchy in them. Looking back at it, that is the sort of reaction that the show was parodying in the first place.

    I've never heard of this cartoon tbh and it kinda sounds like one of those adult cartoons that's about dealing with STD's....

      You've never watched the Simpsons, have you?

      Its the "show within a show" in that show. The cartoon the two kids, Lisa and Bart Simpson watch all the time.

    I'd love to be able to desensitise myself. Seriously. I can't watch the news anymore and I even get stressed out when I watch films. Say for example if there's a scene with a shop and then some-one drives into it or has a fight and ends up smashing everything I get stressed about how much time and money it's going to cost to get it sorted out again. I know it's not real but whatever goes into my brain through my eyes just really gets me. I don't know how to desensitise myself. :S

    i use to think like you, but then my friend showed me happy tree friends, then i was like fuck it! It's just tv. basically desensitize yourself.

    The next time it comes on, don't watch it, but do listen to it - you may be able to pick up on the humour of it more without being distracted by what you are seeing.

    I used to loath the 90s cartoon Ren & Stimpy; until one day when my old boyfriend was watching it and I could hear it from the other room. It sounded a lot more witty. After about 30-40 minutes, I sat down and started watching it too. I actually enjoyed it and thought it was hysterical! I think, at first, I was distracted by how unattractive the show was to watch, so the humour was lost on me.

    You never know, it might work for you too.

      Yeah it took me a while to like Ren & Stimpy too. For a long time I felt like Ren & Stimpy and that other 90s cartoon Pinky & The Brain were the same. It took me a long time to even watch a full episode because I felt like they were so much alike.

    Itchy & Scratchy is just like Tom & Jerry but with blood and gore with what if's but its not as funny as Tom & Jerry

    Lol I was actually going to write a post asking why Lisa would enjoy it. I find it so at odds with her character. You probably wouldn't like the episode where they all go to the theme park Itchy & Scratchy land.
