I used to be bulimic. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, it completely takes over. You end up constantly counting calories, and throwing up the smallest amounts of food. Even once you've stopped, it's still always tempting to relapse. I know I always look at it as an option if I feel I have eaten too much. It destroys your body.

Counting the calories is good but you just can't possibly get it right. Also because calories aren't all your body needs. You also need vitamins and minerals and a shortage of those chemicals can lead to serious health troubles besides having a gorgeous thin body.
Some of these vitamins are necessary for correct brain activity you actually risk becoming a retard.
And nobody likes a stupid head over a gorgeous body.
Actually, most men do.Anyway,It is so not worth it!
Unless you are a model and you girls will never be.
You ain't got the necessary hang ups. What did I just say? Does it even mean anyting?Well.Goodbye.

Just FYI, "retard" is considered an offensive term. I know you didn't mean it offensively, but it's no longer an acceptable term for the severely mentally disabled.

From what I know.. or have been told, its is largely due to a mineral deficiency - your body needs something (iron eg) and this is your brains strange way of trying to fulfill this deficiency.
For the sake of my friend, she does it due to OCD combined with a traumatic situation she found herself in a few years ago (pica started shortly after that). She has been in therapy to try to resolve this issue - it's deeper than she thought.
She will lock herself in the bathroom for 3 hours sometimes and pick her hair out one by one and pop the follicle with her teeth (which she finds satisfying) and throws the main length of the hair away. She wears hair pieces as she has pulled a lot of hair out.

The brain is uncapable of detecting the amount of a particular mineral in your body and telling you to remedy to this insufficiency. If we had such a mechanism nobody would have nutritional deficiencies or abudance but matter of fact most people do.

I switch back and forth from anorexia and bulimia.....then mix that up with drugs and alcohol. What a mess. I am proud to say that my insurance is covering treatment. THANK GOD!

wow more people actually have eating disorders than not... does that mean that people who don't have a disorder as such actually do and vice versa?

  • I feel like I'm always hungry, so I eat pretty much every thing of food I see. I never gain weight. I sometimes wish I didn't, because it's so unhealthy and sometimes I get sick. But food is SO good!

The new disorder is excercising to the extreme to achieve "perfection". Some girls excercise because they think they are fat, even though they are not. Excercise is healthy if it is done to feel good, but not if you have a false idea that you are overweight.

No. But I knew someone that did. They had pica, and they ate their dead skin and nails.
