Do you get annoyed when people confuse confidence with conceit?

Obviously it's good to be confident in yourself, but people tend to get annoyed by it instantly if someone says something good about themselves. Like there's pretty simple differences between being confident and being full of yourself, conceited, etc...

Fine: I look really good.
Not fine: I look better than everyone else.

As long as someones confidence doesn't make them look down on others then it's a great thing, right?

  • I've noticed it happen on here and it confuses me. Whenever someone feels like they don't look good people will instantly go to how it isn't bad or how they look great and should have confidence in what they have.

Yet when someone already has confidence in their appearance they jump on you like loons. As if you're not allowed to have confidence until others permit you to. It's weird.

It depends. Did someone say something something about how you look, or were you all talking about something completely different and you started talking about yourself?
