Do you find it funny when you see someone trip or fall

Ok, so for some reason the funniest thing in the world to me is when someone trips or falls. Even when I trip I laugh at myself, it just hits my funny nerve whenever I see someone on the street trip. I bust out laughing every time! But I dont think its funny if they are really hurt.

I will laugh no matter what, even while I am helping them up. If someone slips on ice, I love when they try to save themselves. The just look hilarious.

I'd laugh if I saw someone fall. Just saying.

If the person that fell isn't hurt or deeply embarrassed, I laugh. I can't help zeroing in on the face when someone falls, due to working with children for so long, I hate it when some one falls.

    Hilarious!!

Jack Handey: "Whenever I see an old lady slip and fall on a wet sidewalk, my first instinct is to laugh. But then I think, what if I was an ant, and she fell on me. Then it wouldn't seem quite so funny."

It's why slapstick comedy was so popular. It's why, today, we have those home video clips programmes on TV. Me and a friend really struggle to hide our amusement when someone trips. I honestly don't know why it's funny and if I overanalysed it, it probably says something I don't particularly like about myself. So I won't.

As a side note, if a film came out which showed Ben Stiller or Vince Vaughn tripping up, I'd find that ten times funnier than anything that ever came out of their mouths.

No. If that person was someone that you loved and someone was standing around laughing at them as they fell, how would you feel? My mom is 84 and her knee recently gave out on her due to rheumatoid arthritis. She was amongst friends when she fell. However, if she had been in a place where a stranger laughed at her fall, I don't know what I would have done to the person. I am normally anxious for any person falling and fearful that they might be hurt upon impact. Especially older people.

There are many black hearted people in this world who get a kick out of watching damage and pain inflicted upon others. Hitler was one of them. He would sit in a movie theatre and watch news reels about the death camps and laugh at the piles of dead bodies that were featured, etc.,etc.

I agree with you ! But on the other hand, I think that there are varying degrees of cruelty.

To be totally honest, I hate being embarrassed, so my animal inclination when I trip and I hear someone laugh is I want to snap to my feet and sucker punch the person. I know it sounds cruel, but to me, THAT would be the REALLY funny part. Because my attitude is "if you're going to laugh at my misfortune, I'll give YOU something to laugh about, pal". What goes around, comes around. I know it sounds harsh, but I think that it is kind of mean-spirited to laugh at anybody's misfortune, no matter how big or small.

Not that I have ever actually punched anyone over this, but it is just the first thought that pops into my mind ;)

If someone thought that it was funny and laughed when I slipped on the ice, I would think it was funny if their brand new car that they just paid $30,000 dollars for was scratched or marred. Not to be any meaner than they are, but tit for tat.

  • Whenever I'm down...watching people fall will always cheer me up. The fall has to be extremely bad (to the point where they're bleeding) then I'll ask are they're okay first...before laughing.

Lol I feel embarrassed for them. But I laugh at the same time. SO I get mixed messages from myself.

  • Yea> the act of someone falling is hilarious. That they sometimes get hurt, is not. But, can't have one without risking the other.
