Do you feel that our looks is our important asset?

Our looks have a very significant impact on our way of livng. Studies have shown that attractive people are more likely to get better jobs and promotions then those who are unattractive. Studies have also shown that attractive criminals get more lenient sentences then unattractive criminals. With this being said, do you feel that our looks is our most important asset?

Yes, I believe it's our most important asset. 15
I don't think it's the most important, but one of the most important. 48

  • Looks will fade so it's better to invest in something that can't be touched by time like character, virtue, or our service towards others.

But they are good to have.

  • If you're talking about the U.S., I'd say that if you are involved in any type of customer or public interaction then looks, as part of presence, is the most important thing. Especially for women.

Just watch anybody in the media today. They are runway model good looking. The Today Show on NBC has more beauty contest winners than journalism award winners.

I always use my looks to get ahead. I am very intelligent and good at what I do, with a lot of family connections. But my real edge is my beauty.

Are looks important? The answere is, extremely. Looks have an overall impact on your life, starting as soon as around fourth grade. They make you more popular, and altogether more likable.

It's a sad reality, really. I personally couldn't care less about how someone looks, if they're intelligent, funny, or kind, then they practice good character, which is, in my opinion, really the only important thing.

As for the world, looks prioritize a major part of one's self. It's unfortunate, but it's the way it is, and the world doesn't care if it's fair.

It's not the most important asset, but, terribly, it's up there.

Being "prettier" doesn't mean you can do a better job.

Now looking more "PROFESSIONAL" ... is a different story.

Since putting on a load of weight im paranoid about my appearance but im determined to get back to the way I was just after I stopped visiting the gym. Then was the best time, still looking good from the gym but not doing any workout, shame it dont last.

Looks are important but it's not the most important asset. Personality, behavior, and maintenance of appearance are just as crucial when it comes to jobs and how society decides to treat you. Some industries, especially in entertainment and media, value good clean looks but in other areas such as the scientific industry, looks don't mean shit.

Society deems it more important than what it really should be in my opinion.

I don't know actually , cause i guess all of us some times find our self so attractive , and other times ugly , so it's okay !

but it depends on how other people see u .

I think it is quite important, but I wish it wasn't. It is so knackering using lotion when you get out the bath and putting make up on every time you go out.

I am looking for a boyfriend so I kinda do have to do it, even though I suck at make up.

    Looks are subjective.

I don't know....I think there's definitely a pretty good concensus on what's pleasing to the eye and what's not. Degrees of beauty or ugliness are more personal but in general we tend to agree.

As shallow as this might sound: For some people, it might be one of the most important thing's that they look for in a partner, but when it comes to the actual working world... I don't think so.
