I don't drink alone at home. If I were to drinkl in a private place, like at home or friend's home, I'd get as drunk as I'd get in a pub (sometimes more).
But drinking alone just seems wrong, it feels wrong. It destorys the point of drinking.

I drink (at home) to have fun, to relax, to stop boredom...

To me the only thing drinking around others adds to it is horniness and bad decisions.

Personally drinking alone seems like a waste of alcohol. I've tried it a few times and every time never felt it was worth while. I suppose it depends on why you're drinking.

I drink with friends because it makes us all less inhibited, and we have ridiculous and bizarre conversations, find everything funny and are sometimes more honest with each other.

Sometimes "bad decisions" for me are things I simply wouldn't have the courage to do sober.

Drinking alone is different to drinking in company. When in company, you have to try and be social with people who are either more drunk than you are or less drunk, and the need to do this means you keep a kind of sobriety in reserve. You're always aware you are in public and a sober friend may turn up at any moment (and you don't want to look like a dick). My group always thought that talking and being engaged kept you more sober, but I think it was just self-preservation that did it.

In short, if you're drunk enough to be embarrassed about it, then you're probably drinking too much anyway, whether it's at home or out and about.

  • I drink (beer & wine & sometimes rum), but never enough to get drunk. I used to get wasted when I was 19-20 years old, but it was a phase. I'm not a fan of hangovers or gut-rot.
