One time, in my Dove chocolate square wrapper, it said that I was star for which all evenings wait. I felt special.
It's disorienting to look up at the sky and realize that space is more massive than I will ever be able to imagine to scale.
Couldn't have said it better myself. It's really amazing to think about.
The sun is a mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace. Where hydrogen is built into helium at a temperature of millions of degrees.
I know what you mean and yes it's normal, I do the same, occasionally take a moment out of the day to stop and appreciate the things we take for granted and don't pay attention to for most of our lives, I see the sun every day but to actually ponder it is a different thing completely
I think of the thermonuclear chain H -> He -> C -> ... -> Fe, as well as the main sequence. Eight light minutes; adiabatic temperature gradient; alpha particle wind; junk like that.
And it's pretty fucking far as well: light goes around the Earth seven times in one second, and it takes almost eight and a half minutes for light to go from the Sun to the Earth!
