Lucid Dreams are hella cool!
Last night I dreamed I murdered my PE teacher and the entire school was after me! It was actually pretty funny . . .
Lucid dreams are a lot of fun.
Why would they scare anyone? Controlling your dreams is pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
Well basically I used to suffer from harsh nightmares and very vivid nightmares. Probably due to my adolescence, as it left by itself with time. On the rare occasion I have a lucid dream, I can't help but remind myself of them, and then suddenly I'm being eaten alive or something and I wake up too soon to regain control.
I managed about 3 of these, but that was at a time when I tried really hard...
The first one took place on a Super Mario Galaxy-like platform in outer space. I remember looking at my hands and realising that there were 7 fingers on each hand. Everything became clearer at once, but unfortunately, I got so excited that I woke up immediately after.
The second one involved me jumping from a high window, oddly without fear, and in mid-fall I realised that this would be an improbably event in waking life. Thus I just flew before I hit the ground.
I really, really wanna know how to do this! "Controlling your dreams is pretty easy once you get the hang of it." Everyone tells me that same thing all the time. haha
First, you have to focus your mind. Concentrate on a picture of something before you sleep, only one thing that's easy to remember. Like, for example, I use a pumpkin.
Focus on the details. For example, my pumpkin is smooth, whole and un-carved, it still has the stem, it's a bright orange and is about medium-sized.
Once you've got your picture in mind, try to only concentrate on that picture. If you see that picture in a setting where it isn't normally, like in your bathroom for example, it lets your mind know that something isn't quite right, aka: you're dreaming.
Once you know you're dreaming, you can start to try to change things in your dream. Try changing anything you want; your clothes, the people who're with you, etc.
Maybe the most important thing is not to get discouraged. It likely won't happen the first time you try it. It took me about three months before I had a lucid dream. It was a few years ago, but I'm trying to do it again.
Anyhow, hope this helps!
I figured it out as a kid, spent a lot of time flying in dreams, but had to stop because you don't rest well if you do it often. It disturbs the sleep, and puts you into an almost wakeful state. The more control you gain, the less rest you get. Every once in a while I still do it. It's not hard to figure out you're dreaming... the hard part is not waking up.
There must be different types of lucid dreaming. Because the ones I experience are absolutely terrifying and I have no control over them at all. I've done some research and I discovered that I have sleep paralysis dreams. Either you get them when you fall asleep, which is when your body goes into REM sleep but your mind is still aware. Also, you can get them when you wake up during REM sleep and your mind is aware but your body is paralyzed. It's a pretty scary experience because I always hallucinate and see people in my room and I can't move. It's the worst thing in the world. I can never go back to sleep when this happens to me. It usually happens when I'm really stressed out or tired. It sucks.
I know exactly what you're talking about, I had one of these; I was dreaming that I was laying in my bed awake, but really I was dreaming. I knew somebody was breaking in to my house but I couldn't move, as hard as I tried, almost exhausted from trying to move I couldn't, I thought someone was going to come in and kill me. I will never forget that feeling. When I wakeup I was so scared because I wasn't yet sure if it was a dream or someone was in my house
I love lucid dreaming. It may be freaky at first but once you have done it a few times, it's hella fun. :)
i've had a few without trying, one where i flew down my stairs and i was flying everywhere, IT WAS SO AWESOME but the bad thing was that i thought i could fly the next day and i was really dissapointed :L
yeah its freakin rare but their alot like a drug trip. I had this one that i was flying it was so awsome i wish i could do it again so bad. I went to such beautifull places >.<
I'm pretty sure I found a way how to have lucid dreams. Last night I went to bed early(9 p.m.) and set my alarm for 2 a.m.. When the alarm woke me up I stayed awake until I got really sleepy(about 2 hours). Before I went to bed I put on some music playing quietly(80s new wave stuff if that's relevant). For the next 2 hours I was in this weird state in which I was dreaming but I knew I was in my bed because of the music. The dreams were pretty crazy although I don't remember most of them, the last thing I remember was fighting 2 butlers at the same time(I was winning).
I'll try this again tonight and will report the results the next morning. If anyone else is interested, try this.
Yes I have them all the time.
In fact just last night I had one about an Ex of mine, needless to say I created a loop on the part I wanted to stay in and repeat.
one. Just One! But it was really fun, it was by pure chance that i realized i was dreaming though.
I remember haveing lucid dreams ALOT i thought everyone was in control when they slept, i remember id be in the street and id start running then id jump up and id be flying but then one of my friends would fly over to me and then id slowley not be able to fly then finally id be standing trying to jump in the air but i just couldnt get enough lift for some reason
ive had them only a few times, but usually i get so excited that i wake myself up.
I used to have TONS of lucid dreams up to the age of about 15. Then the number reduced greatly as I struggled with daily life.
Now it rarely happens which deeply saddens me. I love lucid dreaming.
auto-fellatio and cloning myself to make an army lol and then raping people. i just gotta be careful maybe its not a dream
yes sometimes they're scary and sometimes they're fun... And sometimes I get annoyed when I interrupt my own dream:(
But one dream I had was I was basically getting ready for a zombie apocalypse.. I dunno but it was awesome.
I love lucid dreams cos u get to do absolutely anything you want without worrying about the consequences, like doing 500mph down the highway or bashing the shit out of someone you really hate. XD
Lucid dreams are brilliant! I once had I lucid dream that I was dressed as a penguin, and because I knew it was just a dream it felt fine to waddle around like one.
I have vivid nightmares every night and have started having hallucinations during the day. It's the most disturbing, horrifying things to see. Lucid dreaming is the worst.
i have had a couple without realising it, but they only happen when i'm on the border of sleep and waking up.
I was only able to do it once, and it only halfway worked. i was able to fly out of my backyard and to a 4-way intersection but for some reason, I couldent fly again.
I drink two glasses of wine and I automatically get lucid dreams that night :) B6 is also a good way, like Mel_287 said.
I used to have them every night when I was a kid, most were okay but they were either boring or really really scary. Now they're mostly lucid wet dreams. LOL.
I have lucid dreams all the time, I got a little addicted to vitamin B6 and how easy it makes it for you to manipulate the totally tangible dream world, it's like having access to your subconscious but it led me to some really dirty dark places, in some ways, if you get really good a the creating it can be really scary, because you are in control and you seem to know what you want when its happening because the fulfillment is instantaneous. You have to have the experience before you know you don't want it. In that way its like a self therapy, but it's really intense, I don't know if I'd recommend it to most knowing what I've felt. You can try, most people don't have lucid dreams before they hear that it is possible and even then they are like glimpses in the dark for some time, the mastery of manipulation comes much later. It's vigorous mental training.
I want to be the Dream Master. I am currently trying to train myself to have Lucid Dreams.
