Do you ever feel sorry for any is it normal user?

Some people here seem to be so messed up that sometimes I catch myself wondering what will be of them till the end of time or if they'll ever come around and be functional. Are these people's lives similar to their internet life? So, do you tend to feel sorry for anyone here?

yes, when I empathize 18
no, I don't give a fuck about anyone here 6

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

If a post is well written and seems an honest request for help, then I will offer what I hope will be helpful advice. But a poorly written post with either text speak or numerous misspellings, just doesn't illicit any empathy from me. If someone seriously wants help, then a little respect for the IIN members by making their posts as literate and easy to read as possible, only makes sense.
Also, there are plenty of bleeding hearts on here, but at times I feel a bit of tough love may be needed. A shockingly direct response might, repeat might, get through to someone, when years of there, theres just haven't. I rarely mean to be cruel, though it may come out that way, unless the post is just so disrespectful as to be a total chore to read and understand.

Because I am only getting one side of something I do not know if I am in fact getting the whole story....many people write as if they are the victims of circumstance or other people and yet if you really knew them you would see that is not the case at all and they actually are the cause of their troubles.....so yes I do feel sorrow for their predicament but realize that they are painting themselves in a sympathetic light and are most likely causing or at least contributing to their problems...

I can still feel sorrow for people who are the cause of their problems if they are willing to acknowledge their issues and are willing to work on them...but people in demial or not willing to even take a look at themselves usually end up just annoying me

Sorry for? I don't pity if that's what you mean. I mostly try to feel what where they're coming from. I don't much get annoyed, either. I only actually dislike bullies. They're pathetic and cowardly. But that's easily solved by ignoring them. They throw their tantrum and run out of breath. That's the only thing close to pity I harbor.

  • I can't say I do. I'm a bit detatched with people on here and with people in general unless it just cuts in deep what the problem is.

I got told on here a long time ago that someone felt so sad for me. I can't remember if it was just in general or one of the times I explained my childhood, but meh, I moved on from those things so I was quite stumped as to how to react having someone say it in a genuine way rather than sarcastically as an insult.

I doubt users on here in general feel sorry for any of the other users, maybe for certain situation some users were in but feel sorry for the user completely? I doubt it...But, there's me being a cynic again.

I don't feel much for people in general (I was once told by someone close to me that I "lack compassion"), but when I'm on IIN (or any forum really) I specifically look for the people who remind me of myself and reassure them that they're not alone.

No, not really. Am fairly desensitized. Plus I instinctively think more objectively rather than emotionally, and it works well

But there was one particular OP that I felt so incredibly sorry for cause what they were feeling was a million times amplified version of what I had experienced. Shit even thinking about it now gets to me. I wanted to send some $$ but figured that would be weird or potentially condescending, since money wasnt part of the issue. Wanted to ask their email or phone number so I could guide/help them through, but figured that would be creepy. So in the end I just decided to post a long response and that was it
