Do you consider yourself intelligent?

I have variable intelligence.

That means depending on the situation, I can either be pretty fucking clever, or cripplingly retarded. Sometimes there is no discernible reason for this fluctuation other than my brain deciding 'today is stupid day'.

I'd also say it really depends on the subject. I'm fairly good when writing English, as well as thinking it. Speaking it, however, my language loses something in transit from brain to tongue and I find myself stuttering and stumbling over words. I'm not adept at mathematics, so in that regard I am distinctly average. In terms of creative problem solving, and creative expression in music and art, I'm very capable. I'm above average when it comes to analytical thinking. I have a good short term memory but poor long term memory. My visual memory is strong, whilst remembering abstract details like specific text (formulas, quotations, names) is not so great.

So I'd say overall I am average, but have the propensity to be both stupid and smart.

Yes, I do. I think I'm somewhere in the top 20%, maybe 10%. I also think most people here are selling themselves short, although admittedly there's a limited amount you can tell about people from the internet alone.

I'm also the guy who tried to turn his alarm clock off for 5 whole minutes this morning by turning off his lamp and freaking out when the noise kept blaring at him, then ripped the bulb out of the lamp and thought he was going insane when the alarm kept ringing. So take anything I say about my own intelligence with a pinch of salt :P

I would consider myself to be of average intelligence.

It's funny because when polled, most Americans think that they are "Above Average" intelligence when statistically, that is not possible. When talking about just general intelligence, all philosophical bullshit about what intelligence REALLY is aside, I would say I am still average.

It doesn't matter how intelligent you are unless you can demonstrate in your actions, considerations and general efforts. Knowing this, Intelligence should be concealed to avoid becoming confused with arrogance.

If it was a question based on IQ only, I do have a rather spiffy IQ. But it's not, it's about other types of intelligence as well. What I'd say about it is this:

Let's say there are ten types of intelligence and everyone has fifty points to be spent in the various types.

People would most commonly be scored something like:

I often feel like I'd score:

It still adds up to fifty but five of the columns are 0 and 1 (meaning I'm virtually completely incapable).

So my vote is I'm "average" in total but with a rare distribution of individual elements that makes certain things very easy for me and other things very difficult.

I am as thick as pigshit, but people seem to think I am really smart. 'Cos I talk nice.

I think I'm quite intelligent, though not in a I'm a perfect A+ student, but more of a I think about more important things way. I guess you could say I am wise, I have wisdom.

Is this overall, because it really depends on what area you class as being "intelligent"... I mean that everyone is smart in their own way, weather it's math, biology, or plain old street smart?

Everyone is smart at something. I admit to not knowing everything, then again, I'm still young.

i hate logic, but im so realistic in life. i think my right side of brain works better than the left one. bcoz i love arts and in my family i can do artistic arts better than anyone. i hate math and any logical things based on academics like calculus and something like that. my sense of art does better.

That's not for me to say.

I think I have introspective, insightful and creative intelligence. Left side of the brain stuff. Other than that I'm pretty average knowledge wise.

My degree is basically society officially announcing:

"Hey everybody! This guy. Right here. Is smart. Seriously."

Barely.

Probably average. But, for a good portion of my life, I believed I was slightly below average. Mostly I thought that way because I was raised by my parents to believe it was so and I was also quite introverted during my childhood.

I is a genius.

It really depends on who I'm surrounded by. Some people make me feel dumb, while others make me feel highly intelligent. But mostly I feel average.
