I mostly comment on the new stuff but every so often I see a post from 4+ years ago which is really unique or a good question and I comment but it feels really futile like it's likely the user has moved on from the site by now or even if they haven't, they wouldn't care about input from a question they asked 4+ years ago which in all likelihood they've resolved.

Every so often I end up doing that. Either because I find the post interesting or because I didn't realize how old the post was until I posted my comment. Then I feel stupid. ._.
Just for the sake of putting my input in if the subject is worth my time
I've done that in the past. I don't do it anymore though. There's really no point to it.
I think I have but then I only got on here a couple of days ago and I can't see anywhere how old or new posts are, short of scrolling all the way down and hoping I see the occasional date.
I don't really check how old they are. I just comment on whatever I come across.

Nowadays, I don't comment on an old post 'cause I don't make it there with all the new stuff going on.
I love the older posts, but I don't comment on them anymore because I feel dumb for doing so. When I see newer comments on an old post though I kind of find it endearing.
