Do you choose a person you know is not on your "level"?

I think I have never done as good as I can. I am a man. Age 40. I date outside my race I believe intentionally. I am white and I know that most of the women I have chosen, all gone now, have not really been ... A match (let's say).. I am not at all being smug or uppity. I am speaking the truth. I knew they looked at me like a catch and I didn't honestly feel the same in return. But felt "secure". Thoughts..?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Settling in order to feel secure can backfire on you. That security can start to feel like a prison, and make you feel trapped. Why not look for someone who is your equal? Are you afraid of failure, afraid of abandonment?

I'm probably projecting here a bit, but you probably don't deserve them honestly. You would rather settle than face the reality that you'll likely just be alone because you'll never find that 'match.'
