I think it should be 18.
If you can go fight and die for your country, then I think you ought to be able to have a few drinks if you want to.
It should be 18. At 18, you are considered an adult that can buy cigarettes AND go to war yet, you can't drink. Does that make any sense?
No limit might be best. It's amazing just how much crap a lot of teenagers will do just because they're not supposed to do so.
Many of the countries with lower ages or no age restriction seem to have less issues with excessive drinking, which is the biggest problem
That depends. In a lot of countries there is no age limit and the rest of the world the age is 16-21. Be more specific duuude. Or do you just assume everyone here lives where you live.
21 is rediculously high. Here in the Netherlands it's 16 for light alcoholic drinks (beer and wine) and 18 for everything stronger. And I already think that's high.
Last summer I was on holiday on Ibiza with my friends. I was 14 at the time and I had no trouble getting alcohol. The Spanish are far less strict in that, you just need to order and it's being served. Nobody asks for your age.
Population control. Darwinism in action.
I'm for less government control over things like this. Being raised in France, we were given watered down wine at dinner with our meal, at boarding school. I won a bottle of wine at a fair (7 years old) which my Dad and I drank on a bench right away.
Coming to the states soon after, the aura and mystery of alcohol did not exist for me and though I drank occasionally in high school, I never had, nor do I now have, a drinking problem.
I drink, I get drunk, I fall down, no problem.... Just a joke.
It should be 25. to alleviate the "wait" marijuana should be made available for those 18 and older.
No. I believe it should be raised. Some people can't handle it even when they're older.
I think it should be kinda like drivers training. High school kids should be made to go to a class to learn about drinking responsibly. If they pass the class, they could go somewhere when they're 21 to get a license to drink. Why not? They have to get one to drive.
