It's at least highly probable, seeing how many trillions of star systems there are. Wolfram Alpha estimates there are about 70000000000000000000000 stars in the observable universe, in some 170 billion galaxies. Our visible night sky alone is home to some 100 billion stars. There's gotta be inhabited planets circling around some of those.
Its kind of selfish to think that out of the trillions of star systems out there that we are the only ones, and if so why the fuck is everything else out there
heres a freaky fact that no ones ever thought about except dr.seuss. Theres no such thing as big or small our universe IS an atom compared to something beyond our minds. Man our universe could even be part of a living thing so big we cant even see it. but hey what do i know im just 13(:
I think we attribute too much to "life". It's a chemical and physical process. It started on Earth in very simple terms. I know it's hard for people to view themselves as a highly developed algae but, in many ways, it's absolutely fascinating what humans evolved into.
I strongly believe that life as we know it exists in many places, largely unicellular, but life all the same. I don't think it exists in many places in our form because we are a danger to ourselves and not liable to live much more than another heartbeat in astronomical terms.
I'm definitely with Dappled on this one. I doubt it exists many places as us because of our intensely competitive and ultimately self destructive nature. However, that being said I have to offer the idea that for everything that we can perceive as life can be challenged by the universe. All we know how to look for is life "as we know it." We know what we and all known living creatures on our planet need to survive, and so assume that all things in all the universe would have to have those things to survive. In the infinite possibility of the universe, however, I believe that life can exist far outside of how we know it. There may be life developed FAR beyond the point we are. As humans we have a hard time wrapping our brains around what something more advanced than a human could be. We've reached a point in our development where there's not really too much left to do that we know of. in 1500 everyone was acutely aware that there was a LOT of development to be done in the world before humans tapped their potential. Hell, even in 1900 they knew they had things and ideas to expound on. I think we're starting to reach that point where we're running low on truly great developments in the world. All we'd have left to master after a grand energy source would be space itself.
I'd think it quite hard for people to perceive anything with developments millions of years ahead of us. On another planet, perhaps life developed into a society of intelligent beings with absolutely no warlike nature. Or what if life developed as a central being? What if somewhere there is a megaminded being as large as Earth itself? If life can develop into many grunts, there's not a reason I can see why it cannot develop into few elites (by our human standard of course.) What I present are ideas that challenge all of the known for some. I propose the possibility that nature itself is a being. Mother Nature (that I know of) has not touched another planet. No other planet that I've heard of has any sort of plant life. I know that nature on this planet is pretty damn tenacious and capable of rapid evolution to meet nearly any situation that can be provided to it. If it exists in the same fashion for all of the universe as it does here, we'd see at least several terrestrial planets with some sort of life. Perhaps Mother Nature itself is an intelligent being that is developed beyond what we can perceive. It has no agenda other than staying alive and being part of the world. I can't say what would lead any kind of being to do this, but as I stated previously, we're dealing with all theoreticals here, as I have no way of knowing what a being like that would think like, if it even gets through the world by thinking. I present that forces that drive the world as we know it may themselves be extraterrestrial beings. There's no way I've yet thought of that one could definitively prove or disprove this, but if you're looking at things beyond perception, they may just be that. As a rough example, consider the possibility that karma is a central being or a group of beings (I don't see how THIS really matters) that does/do not have what we can perceive as a body. It does not need to feed, food perhaps not being a necessity to sustain this form of life "as we haven't considered it." It's evolved in such a way that it's capable of occupying the same space as us. It's evolved so that it's completely invisible to us. What some may call a "force", I'd offer may be a being of some form of intelligence. I gave karma as an example because it was the most easily conveyable I had on my mind at the time. But I could go on and on about the possibilities. Perhaps we've had beings from other places in the universe among us as long as we have existed, and never been at a point where we, as an entire race, could/would realize this and/or accept it.
If there are Aliens then there must be Alien drug addicts and hookers too. I wonder what kind of drugs Aliens use...
This is gonna sound undocumented, but I remember my physics teacher a few weeks ago telling me about an experiment an american (If I recall correctly) scientist conducted an experiment where he used gases that would have been present at the beginning of the earth. Today the world is relatively stable as most elements are in compound form, like carbon dioxide, water, etc.
Anyway when he threw these gases together, they blew up and the end result among other things was amino acids, the most BASIC FORM of life.
Scientists have already found a planet 4 light years away from here that would be hospitable to humans. Oxygen, water, 10-70 degrees celsius.
I'm 100% aliens are out there, that they've landed on our planet and the government keeps it secret I doubt it, but something the likes of District 9, I totally find that theory plausible.
We exist
because we reside in a planet that just so happens
to be placed the perfect distance from the right
sized star, and upon looking out
as the public has been informed we're the only ones within sight running round out there
so if the chances of us simply being here are so
incredibly small that we can't find a neighbour
in the bloopin Universe
I don't see why someone somewhere can't wander the same thing
As gi-normously huge as the universe is, with the infinite number of suns and possible planets that orbit them, it would only make sense that somewhere out there there is intelligent life.
To believe that we're alone is Prideful and Vain. 2 sins that the religious folks preach about but deny that they ever do.
I think that the universe is very highly populated. I don't for a second buy this whole "little blue planet is SOOOO exceedingly rare" argument. They exist, and in some form or another, they are here.
Whether or not they're here to help, destroy, or simply observe, is another question entirely. But as for the existence of extraterrestrial life, there's really no argument. Were here. That alone is proof of life in the universe. We are not rare. We are not the exception. We are one of many, ladies and gentlemen. I also find it extremely odd that in our current situation, we are not AGGRESSIVELY researching alternatives to our dwindling resource levels. Asteroid mining, colonies on Mars, space stations, etc. There's a reason for that:
we aren't being ALLOWED to do it. A civilisation as violent and aggressive as ours is being denied the stars due to our nature as killers. All the wonders we've created, and for some reason space is this giant roadblock? Gimme a break. Alien members from either an advanced civilization or alliance have contacted our most powerful governments and said, "Look, fellas, either straighten up or rot. Up to you." and were still here.
Once a large enough cataclysm hits, and wipes enough of us out to finally teach us all a lesson, we might be ready. But that's what it's gonna take. A global even large enough to destroy civilization as we know it. When we rebuild, well be approached again, and this time well be ready to join in with whatever galactic clubhouse there is.
End transmission.
From my point of view,Its very egocentric to believe that we (earth people) are the only one in this world. Why would there be and extremly and still growing universe just for "us"? It just doesnt make sense. If we cant even reach all of it why would it be only ours. I believe there are other living things or species or what evers because the universe just simply cant be our tiny selfs.
It's arrogant and ignorant to think we would be the only creatures capable of living in this entire universe.
Some extraterrestrial life has to exist. It's a low possibility that nothing else exists out there.
No, they exist and have been visting and interacting with mankind since before man was even able to walk. They genetically manipulated our gene pool and have been doing so ever since we became homosapiens. So yes they exist, they are here and are going to be transitioning us into the troubled times ahead and past it. Hope this helps.
Interesting thought, There is always that possibility. The Folks at Blizzard Certanly explored that idea in the Starcraft Game. The Xel'Naga Manipulated the Protoss in that game without their knowledge, so yeah, there could be a race subtley manipulating our evolution. Hell, That would explain the "Sudden Jump" in development in the last 400 years.
There is no aliens. Aliens, bye definition, means 'Not from their home planet.'
Now, If they, all thoug its unlikely, ever came here, then, they WOUD be aliens.
I believe there are other life forms out there but wouldnt nececarily say green naked aliens. Just other forms of life maby even creatures cause why would we have this whole other universe besides earth for nothing. And in the bible God says i have many worlds.
I know, the "Little green men" seems to be what everyone thinks of when someone mentions aliens. I dont believe the "little green men" exist, but I do believe that they're aliens out there. To think that we are alone is just Arrogant. We as a race seem rather arrogant and self-centered. The fact that we are still currently isolated from the rest of the universe probably would explain that.
There are a lot of people here who, despite making allusions to the arrogance of the religious, make some honking great assumptions and logical fallacies.
It is as equally possible that we are the only life in the universe as it is that we are not. Life had to start somewhere and there is still plenty of time for it to turn up elsewhere. It may be that life did crop up elsewhere in the universe but failed. The likelihood is that we will never know. Not just because we cannot investigate every corner of an expanding universe, but also because we may not recognize it. It's equally possible that we were genuinely first. Somewhere had to be first. It's not hubris to suggest that, unless you derive some weird pride from it, which I don't. Just a matter of fact, if it is fact.
Secondly, the suggestion that the size of the universe implies we must not be alone is nonsensical. The size of the universe has absolutely no impact on the frequency of extraterrestrial life. You can talk all you want but there is more to the chance of life (the vast majority of species that has ever existed no longer exist due to natural selection) than whether there are hospitable planets.
The frankly ridiculous Drake equation has seven parts. The second step "the fraction of stars that have planets" is still not known. We are a long way away from making any assertion on the existence of life. The only sensible and reasonable perspective is admitting we just cannot know. To imply there must be alien life for a variety of "reasons" verges on religious.
They're definitely around, civilizations past has shown they have been here before and are here now...
Hey, aren't we all extraterrestrial aliens to the aliens that have not (or have?) discovered us yet? Yikes!
How can there NOT be other Races out there, Nasa and Scientists have found a whole lot of other Galaxies out
there, our Galaxy is Not the only one DUH. I kinda wish that an other friendly race would come and visit me and I would like to show them that most Humans DON'T LIKE WARS and can Live Peacefully together.
If I were an alien advanced enough to travel light years to get here, I would check to see what manner of life lives here, before introducing myself. No doubt, I would quickly note the following:
~ Humans are a race in which men bully women, dictating what they should do with there bodies,
~ Women are killed for doing the things men don't allow them to do, where even entire nations are annihilated,
~ People often believe they are the Master Race and attempt to kill all people in certain religious groups, "races" or whatever arbitrary groups they can dream up,
~ People fail to grasp the difference between fairy tales, and reality, making decisions with closed minds, based on obscure texts written by old men which are based on only the ideas that appeal to them, rejecting any obviously truths in them that they don't like.
I would conclude that humans were cruel, stupid, and detached from reality in many cases, and I'd decide to keep a wary eye on them in case they accidentally manage to travel through space to other worlds where they might attack other races as humans are wont to do.
Aliens may exist but they're to smart to mess with us.
Its quite baffling to think that we can be so good, yet so cruel as a species. Im aware of all the atrocities people have committed, as well as the good qualities, and I always try to see the best in people. Sometimes, i ask if humans are inherently evil, but then my brain tells me im being too cynical, cause I know many people who are generous and extremely nice. plus, being a human, im sure my own perceptions and biases play a factor in looking at mankind critically.
of course, it would be hard for us to accept us being evil even if a large majority of sentient beings from all parts of the universe sent us a poll stating so, trying to be a impartial and objective as possible.
Anything is possible. I do not care enough to make my self look like a maniac and I do not care enough to go yell at the alien hunter that he is nuts since he might be right.
I have always wondered this myself. Are we the only ones out here? Are we the only living things in this entire universe? Its almost scary to think about it. . .I do agree though, I think they exist. I mean, if we obviously exist, who's to say, there aren't others out there much like us, wondering the same exact thing. . . like us.
Of course. Its stupid to say there's nothing out there when we're just a microscopic spec in comparison to the universe.
No they exist, I just don't think they'll come down millions of miles to our planet.
It's like driving 6 million miles to go to a bouncy house.
So they may or they may not exist.
yeah, sad to say, those who are the most advanced are probably the ones farthest away from us. Also, i wonder how many civilizations have been, or are close to being destroyed.
Of course, the universe is a very large place. I think it's more likely that life would exist elsewhere than simply on one planet. Also because of the vastness of the universe, I think it's probably not likely that we will ever come into contact with any other "intelligent" lifeforms. Yes they're probably out there, but they're probably not even aware of our existence nor are we of theirs.
I do believe that the odds for life to exist elsewhere are far greater than the opposite.
There is no fucking way earth is the only planet in the universe that has life on it. Period.
Tecnically, that's true, but they are aliens by "our definition", as we have no idea of what they are like. If one were to visit us, of if we visited them, we would both be aliens. We would be aliens to them, as they have naever seen us before, and they would be alien both to us AND by defintion as they are on a strange planet.
Have any of u heard of project blue beam if u haven't u should search it up in YOUTUBE
By the way any1 who knows a lot about the kecksburg "incident" it's not a UFO, its a WWII nazi bell,an experimental Nazi aircraft desighn. It's interesting because records show that advanced propulsion scientists, vertical takeoff specialists, and overall desighn specialists were all said to be workin on some sort of project during the war. If you look it up and find a good picture( there are some) and then read the eyewitness descriptions the match up perfectly
Yes, but not the aliens you might picture.. Possibly some single celled organisms or something
No.And Yes.They do not exist right here right now but they do exist in anther place and another time.Trouble is that time and place is way too far away from us.In other words:It's highly unlikely for two intelligent species to contact each other or hang out because of the enormous distance there is between our planet and theirs. And since space travel isn't really possible,we can't and never will be able to travel far and fast enough.
Maybe there is intelligent life but they are dolphins, they are octopusses, they are sea creatures.Anyway, chances to find extraterrestrial life now or in the future are 1:100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
So I guess OGM,genetically modified animals,
crosspecies, will have to do.Like the grey, and most aliens you can see on pictures.
They are just mutants.Genetically ill babies.Born from mothers who took one too many pills during pregnancy.Or smoking to much crack.Or both.Or living near a source of radiations.Who got to survive because of someone who took care of them.
Aliens you see on tv are hoaxes. The only aliens we are gonna see anytime soon will come out of some shitty military lab.If they cloned one of our ancestors from scratch, from fossilized cells, and it is indeed possible, for example lucy,or tutankamon,it would be like an alien cause it's a creature from another time, another world.Got it?maybe I should have just answered the bloody and spare guys all of this, blabbering.
They exist but the ones we know from news are fake. It's not aliens,it's unusual lifeforms but still earthlings. No living being from another planet has ever entered the earth atmosphere with or without a dumb space craft.Get over it.
HELL NO!
THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS AILENS. ALL OF YOU THAT STATE THERE ARE, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT FUNNY WEED OR DRUG YOU ARE ON? DO YOU EVER READ THE BIBLE? IT SAYS GOD CREATED HEAVEN AND EARTH AND POPULATED EARTH. GOD MADE THE OTHER PLANETS TOO BUT HE DID NOT POPULATE THEM OR IT WOULD BE MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE.
The bible also doesn't mention trains or computers - yet they obviously exist.
The bible also specifically points out that NO ONE knows God's full plan.
So it's ENTIRELY possible that God created aliens but chose to not tell you about them.
uh, there are other plannets than those 9 that are in our solar system. pick up a science magazine or book every once in a while, instead of thinking that everything is in the bible! oh, and they hav discovered microscopic life on mars, although they are fossils. I read the bible too, but you cant get all your answers from it.
Hey Legion:
Yes you can, the truthful and right answers are from God and is stated in His Word!
You do know how many times that book have been edited and re-written right. Things tend to get lost in translation, whether on purpose, Like with King James, or unintentionally, like the multiple translations it has had over the centuries. Its not the same book it was a thousand years ago. for the record, I Don't feel the bible is entirely wrong, but there are some things you shouldn't take at face value.
