Do you believe love conquers all?

Throughout my whole life I have believed love conquers all, until recently.
I could tell you why I no longer believe this but we'll be here all day. And I don't think the man in question even deserves my time/words.
So what do you think?

    Hell no.

I believe that love can conquer many things, often times, in my marriage, the fact that we love each other has kept one of us from walking away.

That said, I thoroughly believe that the reason that many relationships and marriages fail is because one or both partners believes that love is all it takes to make a successful relationship. It's like saying that the powdered batter is all it takes to make a good cake.

No amount of love with help you if you have shitty communication skills, poor financial sense, if both of you are impatient or immature, jealous, possessive, unwilling to keep the commitments necessary to form a stable relationship, insecure or can't seem to get your shit together. It definitely won't help you if one of you is unwilling to do the work necessary to maintain a relationship.

Don't get me wrong, I believe in love, but love by itself won't turn a shitty relationship into to a good one.

    • I have to agree with Neptun. Thats krap we need to see the truth sometime right?

  • I don't know. A part of me has to believe it does since the Scriptures touches on it so heavily but a part of me realizes that to be loving you have to put aside your affections and do what must be done.

So yes, love does conquer all. But love isn't always what you think it is.

    All you need is love.

    And Lennon/McCartney's bank accounts.

Love can conquer all because it can simply be a figment of your imagination you refuse to let go of. If that's the case, love will outweigh anything in your mind. But in the end, it can also be easily conquered itself because most of the time, reality outweighs illusions.

I believe in Caravaggio's painting, yes I do.

I also believe love does conquer all.

I just don't believe in love.

I don't believe in love. I believe that people develope feelings for each other due to our evolution, but love...no.

I believe love is a result of evolution. I don't see how that should make it less meaningful.

It's just meaningless. There's more to life than finding someone to share it with. People should find happiness within themselves, not other people.

I completely agree with you on that last point. In order to be happy you must be happy with yourself first. Too many people search for their whole life's meaning in a significant other, which is a recipe for disaster. Now if you're already happy and you find someone else to be happy with I do believe that makes things even better.

If you are a user i worried about per PN already, then i have to say, i still believe in love, but if i can do anything at all, including hunting him down, just send a message.

If you are someone else: I still believe in love.

Love can't conquer physical reality. It can't keep you from starving if there's no food, or from dying from disease. Love is great, but it's not all-powerful.

Ive got it into my head that as long as I find true love together we will be untouchable. Its an incredibly naive view... And I know it's not true but I'm having a tricky time making myself believe it. Love creates more problems than it solves.

On certain occasions and sometimes with some people it might be probably said that certain aspects of love could probably conquer something in some cases over some period of time.:)
By the way, I voted No.

  • Perhaps "real" love does, but that's rare, true love.

Anyway, I would like to say that males sacrificed their lives for their partners in that calorado shooting. Quite irritated that women did not express their love for their partner in any way like that.

    • I agree, but women have gave up their lives for men too. Your opinion should not just be based on that specific incident.
One lady I can think off top of my head is Sophie Lancaster. She gave her life to save her boyfriend from being beaten to death.

      • In general, males are far more likely to give up their lives for their partners. We never hear of women doing it for their partners, and in no way do women sacrifice their lives near to the ammount men do.
Does it happen? Ofcourse, but not as much.

        • But why does it matter so much?
Giving your life up for someone you love isn't dependent on your sex/gender. It's usually dependent on the panic of the situation. When you or someone you love is being murdered, you literally have limited seconds to fight or flight.

          • Well I don't like the excuse "it's a coinsidence". I don't believe it is a coinsidence that more men than women pick fight, while the others flight.

            • Are you wanting a battle of genders or something?
Or are you just so irrationally angry at women because you constantly get sexually rejected? Because that's what you are making it look like and you're making yourself look like a huge embarrassment.
