Do you believe in soulmates?

I never used to believe in soulmates. I used to believe that a number of people are an okay fit for you and you kind of choose one and settle with them. But I met someone and it's weird. There's a physical spark between us; you can actually feel it. I can talk to him for hours on end and still have interesting things to say. We have the craziest things in common. And I mean really crazy things that I wouldn't even dare mention to anyone else in fear that they would think I am mentally ill. We fit well. I don't like the word soulmate, but I'm starting to think we are meant to be.
Do you believe in soulmates/a person (or people) who you are meant to be with?

I sincerely believe that there are several soul mates for us out there. At the time you are with them they are as close to a perfect match as anybody could be. But as we age, we change, we no longer seem to fit that one special person, so we move on. Then we meet another person that fits us (the new us) to a tee. And so it goes. I can't believe that just because my present companion is my soul mate now, that invalidates the other two women I've loved just as intensely, believing at the time that they were each my soul mate.

  • I think it's an incredibly stupid concept.
The idea of a soul mate suggests that our future is written and we have no free will.
Similar concepts such as destiny, faith and other nonsense are just as ignorant.
Personally I don't even see how emotions exist beyond electromagnetic impulses in the brain.

I don't see it as lack of free will so much as I see it as a plan...from the soul-level. I would be more surprised to find that we DIDN'T have various partners to these plans.

      • The idea of a pre planed destiny goes against free will because if things were "meant to be" we wouldn't be the ones who decide our own fate.

Some people simply have more compatible personalities than others.

And I guess the perspective I take is that the one deciding our fate IS still us even if we'd considered some of it before entering this life. The point of reference, the one getting the free will, is and was always us, but some of the bullet points are outside this life. Outside this realm.

I believe in soul mates. I met mine 20+ years ago, but circumstances did not allow me to be with her for our lifetimes. I thought I had different ones at one point in my life or another, but confused it with lust and sex. It is sometimes confusing to separate the two.

My view on a soulmate would most certainly be different from quite a few peoples.

Mine would have many different opinions and views from mine; though it wouldn't be healthy to be complete opposite.

I would like someone to have different opinions unlike the average who think soulmate have a lot in common if not all commonalities.

        • A difference in some opinions is a must for me. A relationship would be passionless and sparkless if you both agreed on every single thing.
