The Catholic church is behind lots of paedophilia cover-ups at the highest level, disease and unwanted children due to prohibition of condoms, and deaths of mothers who wanted abortions but weren't allowed access to them (and yes, all of those things still happen today). Catholics are primarily good people just like any other group of people, but the Catholic church has been responsible for very bad things in very recent times and I don't think anyone can reasonably dispute that fact. I should make it clear that the *leadership and structure of the Church* is the problem though, not ordinary Catholics who are absolutely normal people. I'm also not sure if I would so as far as "evil", although it is responsible for a few evil things.

EDIT: I think anything about the New World Order is bollocks, and Islam doesn't want to take over the world (a lot of Islamist governments are fairly "evil", but they don't want to take over the world and normal Muslims aren't either). As a white person, I can confirm that we don't want to oppress black people (although institutionalized racism exists in many countries). As a "liberal", I can confirm that we don't want to oppress white people.

New World Order is a concept of the Illuminati, which has long since been part of the Freemasons.
Many world governments are currently run by Freemasons, many of which are not so open about it any more, but still give all the subtle hints necessary for their Freemason brothers to identify them.
The United States was founded by the Freemasons. The Washington monument is an obelisk, the streets form pentagrams, and masonic imagery is embedded in the government buildings.
They've also been proudly embedding their imagery and symbols in newer buildings like Denver International Airport.
With many worldwide leaders belonging to the same secretive organisation, it's a very realistic possibility.

The 2 above this also relate to NWO as NWO seeks to destroy or dilute nations culture in order to establish their worldwide government.
They dividing countries' populations through mass immigration, thus degrading the cultural heritage and conditioning a single globalist mindset in the people.

Blacks benefit worldwide from affirmative action policies that give them unfair advantages over other races.

With all the affirmative action policies, whites are the last choice for everything where merit would put them first.
The media leads people to believe that whites are not allowed to be proud of their heritage and culture, despite the fact that it was whites that contributed just about everything to the world that made it the place it is today.
Whites are brainwashed into feeling shame for having a preference for their own kind and encouraged to happily and willingly comply with all the affirmative action policies and mix with other races, thus losing their own culture.
This is arguably one of the NWO plots to lead the population towards globalism.

I have a conspiracy theory that public conspiracy theories are conspiracy theories to distract us from unknown wrongdoing.

Now that this theory is public, though, that all changes.

One thing I've never been able to understand is 9/11. There are conspiracy theories aplenty about the attacks and I'm unsure which one I believe. The whole thing stinks of some sort of cover up to me.

There's a huge big conspiracy that rules the world. Actually, that's not strictly true. The word "conspiracy" implies some degree of organization. There are thousands of small conspiracies ruling the world.

The Catholic Church is certainly behind a lot of shady shit, but I think Islam takes my vote in this. A good portion of Muslims are mostly reasonable people who are fine with others holding contrary beliefs, but the issue is that moderate Muslims are not Islam or the Qur'an, just as moderate Christians are not really following their book either. Islam has a call to convert the nonbelievers and so Islam is trying to take over the world regardless of whether its followers are or not.

Side note, Christians have this same call in many denominations, but there are simply far less of them and the bible isn't quite as direct IMO.
