Do you assume the worst of people?

I know that many people have made up stories about their sexual exploits and/or life experiences. But is it normal to assume everything that doesn't fit into your worldview is a made up story?

A couple of people on this site have called me a liar for something I thought was rather trivial. I don't want to mention the specific reference because I don't want to point fingers. I know they were just trolling but it made me wonder how often you believe the stories on here? I'm not talking about the incest and beastiality stories, but the average post. The comment was a simple reference to my reality and I was told I made it up. As if I was lying about wearing brown shoes when really they are black.

Is it normal to turn into a troll just because you don't believe someone?

It costs you nothing to trust and why bother otherwise? In playing the "troll" you are just being another jackass and this site is loaded with them. So someone bullshits? So what? Better to trust that then falsely accuse someone who's story is true but unusual.

Wouldn't it be wierd if all the popular users were one person?

I don't need to believe them. There was a post a while ago where someone claimed to make up hypothetic situations, which are relevant to his/her inquiry, just to illustrate the something.

It's fair enough, needless to say, we're all anonymous here. The degree of my "believability" is measured only by my writing skills, credibility and common sense.

Personally, I don't even care, as long as the story is well written and makes a good point/question.

  • no i usually assume the best which can be just as irritating , i am known for not being a good judge of character , if someone accuses an innocent of cheating its usually because they are thinking/doing it themselves

  • It's interesting hearing how other's view people. They rarely realize when giving their perceptions of their fellow man, they're giving perceptions of themselves.

True or untrue, the insight is always welcome. And by extension, I assume most people are honest and good people.

    Honest! :)

I don't tend to think that the comments are lies, but that the users are liars. By that I mean that there are users who I don't trust at all, so I don't usually trust anything they say (even if it sounds like it could be true). And there are users who I trust, so if they say something which sounds unbelievable then I'll most likely trust that they're telling the truth. Loads of people who are inbetween, though, so it's not so easy with them.

I am as well. No one can judge you online or attack you. They are basically the same as fragmented data. They can not find you or hurt you. Unless the FBI or a super hacker comes after you anything you do is complete freedom.

        • Exactly my reasoning.

Oh but be careful the FBI can go after you. As I've said before, I had both Federal and state warnings for my delving into the web. And no it wasn't child porn, much worse than that.

I'm more honest on this site than anywhere because we're all somewhat anonymous. The only personal info I've gave on here is my first name and location, and I'm not even sure anyone remembers. But anyway, I'm more comfortable talking about certain things here because strangers can't judge me, and if they do it's their own doing. I mentioned before that I've been sexually assaulted, and I don't think anyone would lie about that, unless they're way too desperate for attention. I assume most if not all serious posts here are true.

I'm still new to this site. So far I've always assumed all the serious posts were true. I don't see why you should lie when your completly anonymous.
At least I don't lie here unless I'm being obviously sarcastic.

I believe a lot of people don't want the truth. The truth either isn't fascinating or adventurous enough, or it's too real for their minds to wrap around.
Is this bothersome? Certainly if you're being called a liar when telling the truth. Still, you should try to keep in mind an understanding of either bland or sheltered lives when this happens. They need to believe they're onto something that makes them not bland or sheltered.
It doesn't make them right for making assumptions about you, but you'll feel better if you can understand better.

Most of them, I believe. However I have come across some where a person will make a post and try to give advice to their own post as if they are a different person, but they forget to turn the "Anomynous Poster" off. That right there pretty much tells me that it's bull.

No, because I have lived a bit and I have heard and seen situations much more strange than many of the stories one could see here, HOWEVER...

If a user posts a story and their spelling and grammar is HORRIBLE (as in, the writing is akin to that of an 8 year old), then I assume that the person posting the story is not too bright and I post my reply under that assumption.
