Do you agree with auckland transport's attitude towards latecomers?

In Auckland, New Zealand around 99% of trains are on schedule. One of the major things that have allowed them to achieve this is having 0% tolerance for latecomers. They blow a mouth whistle a little bit before the train is about to leave to make people get a hurry on and I think they are going to put flashing blue lights in some places that start flashing when the train is 30 seconds away from leaving but when the time is up it is up the train will not wait even if you are running down the platform the doors will automatically close and the train will leave. It is viewed as your fault for being late and why should all the other passengers be made late that have made the effort to be on time. It is considered unfair to those passengers.

While this may sound harsh imagine waiting 30 seconds and then at the next stop having to wait another 30 seconds for someone and then at the next stop having to wait again. Waiting for one person will not make much of a difference but waiting for a few people could easily make a train 5 to 10 minutes late. Not only that it has a ripple affect on the other trains on that line making them late also.

Like I said as a result because they do this around 99% of trains in Auckland are exactly on time. No city in the world achieves 100% of trains on time.

Do you agree with this attitude or do you not?

Sydney trains have that "attitude" when it comes to latecomers...only they consider an on time service anywhere up to ten minutes late, from memory. Several minutes early is also a possibility. Unless you get there extra early.

If you're really lucky, the train might just be cancelled. Or not stop.

I agree, get up early and don't endanger people's jobs for your (not you) mistake.

I agree with it as well. I always make sure I am early.

Sounds more than reasonable to me. I wasn't aware that trains waited for people anyway. Do they? I know trains are late at times but I thought it was for reasons other than waiting for people (mechanical, obstructions, weather, safety, etc)
