It is impossible to accept it if no one is offering it.

Just appreciating your comment and adding my own to it. For all those people who get rejected while the person who rejects them complains that no one loves them. I see it a lot.

Many people don't believe they deserve love (for whatever reason) and may never notice it when they are confronted with it. It doesn't mean they are unloved, maybe it means they don't know what it looks like.

What I understand is that is we have a low opinion of ourselves it is difficult to believe that someone else loves us and if we have a too high opinion of ourselves we'll be satisfied only if other people are devoted to us.

Yes. Taking myself as an example, if you don't believe you deserve someone's love you it's really hard to believe in it, and even if you do, it's almost impossible to accept it. It's like being given the key of a city just for turning on a light switch. You know turning on that light switch saved the whole fucking city but you feel like you didn't do anything THAT special to deserve the honors.

...yeah, I'm not very good with metaphors :P

From my experience, this is true. I could never be around people who showed me "too much" love. But perhaps that is because i don't want to get more than i am able to give. Not fair.

I understand the quote, and in my mind it makes sence, especialy when i look at some of the comments, there are some wise people in the world, and many are on this website

You could also easily exchange the word "wise" with "weird."

I trust myself. Just not with power as I already know I am one sadistic bastard.

I kind of reject people's affection, but I accept compliments. I might just be insecure.

I have so many friends who are insecure that I KNOW this is true. When you don't see yourself as special, it's hard to believe anyone else does, either. It breaks my heart when someone tells Rachel she's pretty and she doesn't believe them.

In general, I think people are inclined to accept ALL the love they can get, regardless of whether they deserve it or not. I disagree.

NO WAY. I said no only because I recently saw this story about these little girl's who were being molested because they believed they deserved it and had done something wrong they never told until high-school. This happens in lots of abusive relationships. It sounds so cliche to tell someone they deserve better and watch them return to the arms of an abuser. =( Accept what's best!

absolutely. If someone compliments me on something i did, and i know i did a good job, then i will confidently say thank you with a smile. But if someone compliments me and i didn't think it was that great, then i will reluctantly say thank you with a crooked grin.
