I use to be an artist /painter , that was me , what I am. But I just couldn't survive anymore and had to get back to a real job. It's not what I am anymore , it's sort of not bad if I must do an ordinary job , like it pays ok, not great but not bad , involves designing and manually doing stuff with my hands which is what I'm good at , I'm my own boss to and I only work a few wks a mth. Which all sounds pretty good but the work itself is not all that flash apart from those good points. After being an artist , even if I was flat broke all the time , to be back to doing just a job well , I feel as if I've failed myself.
But eh , being an artist wasn't all roses either , you had the bs art world and people to deal with - live with, your work was in your head , that's where it lived and formed , which can really mess you up too.So sometimes it's actually quite a relief to be back to the real world now , making some money and just an ordinary , no bs , job again !
I love my job...finally. And that last shithole I came out of really makes me appreciate the job I have now!
job is ok,, the backstabbers and non creative drones can kiss my ass, though. I do not like them
Yes, I like my job. It took me 18 years before I finally landed a job at a place that I enjoyed. My previous jobs were okay, nothing that I really hated, just okay.

this is interesting what i dont understand is people spend thousands of dollars on going to school but most people dont even end up doing what they wanted to do in the first place, and end up in a job they hate.
work sucks no matter what but its part of life we all have to deal with.
Because most people are "told" they will have a "great career" but then are forced like round pegs into square holes depending on "what the market needs" and they will have to "adapt to market demands." Meaning, you don't get to do what you like or want, you just have to put up with what's available that you can tolerate. Yuck.
Yeah 40 years of services in the work world now enjoying retirement for 3 years. Worked from ages 14 to 54.
Very much so. It stretches me every single day and I love working in a learning/research environment. I'm very lucky to have found my place in the world of work.
