My wife and I were at a restaurant one evening for supper. A van full of handicapped pulled in and sat next to us. The one guy slobbered so much that a string of spit hung from his face the whole time. He would wipe his mouth and pile the soaking wet napkins on the table for the waitress to pick up. I know all of the "bleeding hearts" here are going to say, "They can't help it. You should be more tolerant." I realize that. But babies can't help that they shit their pants. That doesn't make the smell more enjoyable. I was also leaving a professional baseball game one night. It was crowded and people were slowing walking in the aisles to leave the stadium. There was a handicapped guy in a power wheelchair that he operated with a joy stick. He couldn't go slow like the rest of the crowd. He was the one being impatient and ran the front wheels of his chair onto the back of a lady's heel. I felt like pulling the cable off of his battery. If handicapped people want to be treated equal, then quit thinking that you're "special" and deserve special privileges.

No more or less often than able-bodied, mentally sound people i.e. yes, when they're being annoying.

Admittedly once, I was at a Steakhouse and a family sat in the booth next to mine.

The child had autism and would randomly shout out his order for the entire establishment to hear. The parents of the child looked over into my booth and apologised for his behaviour explaining he had autism.

I overheard the frustrated parents trying to calm him down and even started doubting that this was a good idea to have their their dinner out which was a first in years with the children. I looked over and reassured them, to enjoy themselves and to know that I understand.

So yeah I was annoyed by the child but immediately felt guilty for it. The child did even joined me and my friends in our booth for dessert.

Only when they are loud; I feel the same way about crying babies.

It's not their fault or anything and I respect them, but it irritates me enough that I want to leave sometimes. It's my own fault they're irritating.

Most of the mentally challenged people I know have absolutely no consideration for anyone else. Even the more capable ones are like that. Most of them are extremely violent and don't bathe. That's the worst part. I've only met one mentally challenged person I enjoyed being around. He was a pretty nice boy

As someone from a family with multiple autistic people, it does get really fucking annoying sometimes, yes.

In general, in public, all children seem irritating as hell to me whether mentally retarded or not. Though, sometimes those with special needs can be worse.

  • I usually encourage their obnoxious behavior.
