Do sound effects make accidents funnier?

Some TV shows which compile people's accidents for our entertainment include sound effects when people fall, etc.

Does anybody think this makes the scene funnier? I find it intensely annoying.

    Slapstick rarely amuses me, whether accompanied by the typical sound effects or otherwise.

    Maybe I'm just too uptight :P
