I've shared a house with women, lived with a couple of women etc and I've always had the impression that they fart less than men. Is this really the case or are they just more discreet about it? If women fart less than men, why does this happen? Aren't we all basically the same inside?

I think women fart more than men cuz I fart more than my brothers and male friends lol. When I was younger I and big brother tried to count how many times did we fart. And we found out that I farted twice as many times as big brother did haha. In addition my fart smell worse than that of the others especially when I suffer from constipation...

I think men do fart more. I think they eat more aggressively and probably heavier foods and that contributes. I suppose if a girl ate like a man and felt comfortable letting it rip when she felt the urge it would be more even. It seems more acceptable for men to fart so I think they do it whenever. Whereas Girls don't feel so it has to be a bad one for them to let it go.
We aren't the same inside. Our intestines wrap around our ovaries and make digestion more complicated. Thus creating more potential for gas.
r u stupid? it depends on what ur eating.......so whoever eats more will inevitably fart more.......carbohydrate based food causes more gas...but protein makes your farts smell.thats why beans r so special when it comes to farting
I fart loads, but so does my boyfriend. We find it hilarious. And no, we're not children.
I think it depends on the person to start with (male or female). Also, people who say men fart more than women it's probably because most guys aren't ashamed of just letting them rip, most women try to be discreet about it.
Men feel more comfortable than women do. I hate when men say "girls dont fart or poop"

We would fart equally if everyone ate the same amount. Asked a friend the other night how he farted so much (which is like at least 8 times an hour). He replied, "I eat so much."
I think people confuse different things...one is air and gas...actually methane gas is a by product of bacteria in our gut when it normally breaks down food..it is good and shows a very healthy gut ,metabolism ....we want that gas..although it does stink, it does not smell foul..the real foul smell is actually a bad metabolism and toxins that accumulate in the gut....to correct it you want stuff
Ike exercise, yogurt, fiber and fresh water ...the next thing os air...air is not gas..it is air that you may gulp down with your food or drink..or is contained in certain foods like beans for instance...it only smells because it picks up some of the smell from the surrounding gut...since a larger gut will produce more gas, larger people like men will produce more gas...but people that gulp air when they eat..like people who talk a lot or run around when they are eating will also fart more due to more air
I think men fart more, because they generally eat more, and they're more open about it.
