Do any users know each other in real life? Or, have you met in person ever? Also, do you guys text or Skype/video chat with each other?
I haven't done any of those things, so I'm just wondering.

I'm confused by how much so many of you know about each other. Many of you seem to be friends and converse beyond IIN, yet so few have anything in their profiles; how do you know so much about each other?
A few I've PM'ed and would like to get to know (from a distance at first), but I am a child of the 60's so it's very difficult to lower my guard and the buffers. For many years I had 4 PO boxes, forwarding mail back and forth, so the "man" couldn't track me down.
I have but a minute presence on the internet intentionally; I am way under the NSA's radar. Even posting a picture of myself has so far been impossible, though with more therapy, perhaps one day.
It's just making a connection with another human being. It's nothing strange or mystical.
If you are a child of the sixties, doesn't that make you between 44 and 54 years of age? Which makes your wife between two years old and twelve years old.

The only people here I've met are people who I've referred here and I haven't seen anybody I know on here in a long time.
No... ...WAIT! Does my sister count? She's a person that I've met out of IIN! We first met inside Mommy's tummy. My sister cried when she was born because she thought she was being taken away from me. Fortunately, I was taken out 30 seconds later! I cried, too, but those were tears of joy.
I murdered shuggy last night and took over his account so I could flirt with the IIN ladies (and men). Does that count as "knowing" someone?
I once gave shuggy-chan a hug thinking he was a stranger cuz he was wearing a chocolate mustache.
Maybe that's because you're a panda. Humans and pandas don't mix much. (Most IIN users are human.)

To the op: the only person i know here in real life is my sister. Nobody I know knows this place exists. I wouldn't want them here either since their closed minded stupidity is guaranteed to piss people off.
I dated someone on IIN, but I met her at college and she introduced me to the site.
I've never met or talked to any IIN users through text message or video chat. Maybe one day. Most of you people are bigger weirdos than me though. ;)
