Do i bring it up?!

my brother and his girlfriend are downstairs. She had to have her cat of 10 years put down yesterday and i'm wondering if I should mention it. Common decency tells me that when I go down I should say i'm sorry to hear about....... but she might not want it brought up. What do I do?

Well if you feel it is fitting to share your condolences about the cat you should.

Just don't over do it. If I was in your position, I would keep it short, and say "I'm sorry for the loss of xxxxxx" and give them a hug.

I honestly don't know. Some people get even more depressed to have that topic brought up. I've even seen some people just start crying and tearing up with the mention of it.

I would offer support and if she seems open to the idea, and it feels comfortable I would ask her about the kitty and play dumb. Act as if the cat was some sort of amazing wonder you have never heard of, just show that your interested in her situation. I don't know .. Good luck (:

It's worse to not say anything at all. Say something, just one sentence. Leave it at that and she'll start talking if she wants to.

  • Losing a pet is tough, help her by being there for her.
