Humans are omnivores. Grade school science should have covered this. Meat eaters don't care about the death of the animal any more than vegetarians care about the death of the plant. Both were alive before eaten. There's a reason for that. We're not supposed to care too much about our food. That could be detrimental to our well being. Life has no choice but to feed on life.
Most think it's natural for a lion to kill and eat a gazelle, but if a human eats one, it's bad. Double standard much?
You said it makes more sense to be vegetarian. How so? Based on what? Has there been some new scientific breakthrough that suggests that humans no longer need meat in their diet?
It makes more sense to you because your thinking on this subject is based on emotion. There is no scientific basis for your position. You view it as immoral.
Predators are essential for keeping nature balanced. If there were no meat eating animals, the herbivore population would skyrocket and there wouldn't be enough resources for them all.
As a veggie, yea I agree, it kinda freaks me out. But then, I guess that non-veggies don't see it as eating something that was once alive.
I agree with you. But virtually everything we eat has once been alive. Eating any of them deprives them of life. The consensus seems to be that the more intelligent they are (based on human standards, that is), the crueller it is to murder and devour them.
We don't like to see ourselves as killers so we get someone else to commit the act and then package the meat in shiny little packages we can buy at supermarkets.
I'd prefer it if everyone was a veggie, or at least meat-eaters took the responsibility of slaughtering and carving up their own food, but the call of ignorant bacon is strong.
Tommy, that was ridiculous. I don't even know how to respond to that.
You think we're still cave people?
Get off your ass and go catch your gazelle, stop buying all your calories at the grocery store only to burn them off on the couch and escalator..
People eat too much and badly, and this view that we need to be omnivores is primitive. We don't need to be (I'm omni, so don't bitch), we're just built to tolerate it.
Everything in meat, you can get from veggies. We need the nutrients and vitamins, not the mass.
Quit preaching.
for the people arguing the plants were alive too theory, plants do not feel pain like animals do and even if they did it wouldn't even be a quarter of the pain an animal endures.
well as a vegitarian, yes after the body adjusts to a drastic diet change like that for you to feel disgusted by meat.
I can't even attempt eating meat with out throwing up uncontrolably after.
Well, everyone's entitled to their own opinions.
But to put it bluntly, whatever we eat is already dead. Vegetarians eat dead plants, and omnivores eat dead plants and meat from dead animals. So if you put it like that, it's like we should be disgusted with whatever we eat since it was once alive.
