Different beliefs

I'm married, and my wife came from a very religious family, and I was raised without religion. I recently found out that my wife doesnt believe in evolution. I don't want to sound close minded, but this bothers me. I feel like the whole "God created everything exactly as it is" idea is utterly stupid. Is this normal?

To each his own, man. Religion is something that should have been laid on the table before marriage. I'm not sure how you just figured this out unless you tied the knot 3 weeks after you met her. Sure, religion can seem like a fairy tale and all, but people who hold true to their religious beliefs may believe your ideas are utterly stupid. I'm not sure you two would accomplish much by talking about it, but one thing you do need to talk about is if or when you two have a child. You need to have a plan as to how to raise it under a roof with different beliefs.

And this is usually a topic you should talk about before getting married.... Just agree with her, even if you don't. Either that or find someone else if it bothers you so dam much.

I disagree with ShronV. Thats way too impulsive. Talk to her about it! Support her and ask her to support you. Marraige is a commitment and if you made that commitment you need to be a man and follow through. I dont believe in God but i also see no reason to judge the people that do. Also, you mentioned she grew up with religion...when you grow up with something that extreme, its going to stick! Thats just plain fact. Marriage is not about religion, its about spending the rest of your life with the one person you're in love with! hope this helps!

You should divorce your wife. You clearly think different then she does.
I could never live with someone who thinks like that. It's never going to work out between you. I mean, what if you're going to get kids. Do you want your children to believe in God and dismiss all the other theories that might be true? I say No, because the evolution theory is more than god. GOED DOES NOT EXIST. YOUR WIFE CAN'T THINK NORMALLY. (in my opinion)

I've been holding off on commenting on this one until I had something insightful to say.
Unfortunately, I still got nothin' good, so I'll just say this:
I couldn't be with a sheep. I don't care what type of herd they roam in or what kind of shepherd they follow.
I'll take a clinically insane person any day, so long as they don't let anybody tell 'em how they should think or feel but I do not dig on sheep.

*If you think this is a slam on religion, you missed the point & I don't feel any obligation to enlighten you as I don't much care for jackasses, either.*

If your wife wanted to srudy the Bible more, she would know that there is no conflict. However, if she is happy as she is, let her be. Just knowing that the Old Testament was written by people living without the benefit of modern scientific knowledge should be enough for you.

it's all about what you want to belive, personally i don't think nature alone was smart enough to create all life on its own. yes we evlove/progress, but thats how i see it. but belive what makes you happy it shouldnt matter what others belive so long as your happy with what you have there is nothing wrong.

That's the kind of stuff you want to know about a person before you even date them. Yikes for you!

Well you could go to church as an agnostic like me. I think there might be a god but your right on the whole 'god created everything exactly as it is' thing, it's stupid, the earth Is much older than the bible sais it is. But my advice is just go with it, there are lots of reasons to go to church, good morals are taught, there are usually really nice people there, theres lots of culture/history behind it and theres cool architecture. Try going to church with your wife it will probably bring you closer, it could be an activity together and she would probably love you more for it. I know my gf likes me a wee bit more for it (and her family will probably be more accepting...)
