It's the natural evolution of language, thought and culture. Over time words become less offensive it's just that the process has been massively accelerated due to electronic media.

In Australia we now have a large amount of priveledged white kids who speak as though they grew up in South Central L.A because they think it's tough to mimic a culture that has fuck all to do with them.

When Japanese people come to Australia they always learn how to swear fist because their language doesn't contain any swear words and they think it's a novelty.

So if you can't beat 'em join 'em just try to use swear words that are culturally authentic to you so we don't all end up sounding like Ice-Cube!

It seems to be normal for the younger generation (it is an immature behavior), most folks out grow it when they get out the real world.

Whenever I find myself swearing too much, I try to make a mental note to substitute that word with another similar sounding word whenever I go to say it. This seems to work for me.

I don't see anything at all wrong with swearing! I even let my kids cuss as much as they want. It's not a big deal; they are just words!

They're just words... once they lose their meaning, they are no longer bad. Isn't it a good thing to reduce what's bad? Oh, and FUCK YOUR MORALS! ;)

I don't get why people really want to censor out swear words, I think it makes people want to use it even more when they know there's such a big deal behind it. People use words to express themselves and "f*ck" is how we express our annoyance or anger. There's no point in reducing the amount of times we say "f*ck" because we'd just be putting our angry feelings behind another word like "fudge". Then what, we have to censor that word too?

I think it's normal we swear, maybe you didn't notice as much as a child because people refrained from doing so in front of you. If you watch old films, you can see people swore a lot before too.

I've lived in:

China for 5 years.
Japan for 2 years.
America for 18 years.

And WITHOUT A DOUBT, Chinese people are the least trustworthy, the most evil, the most disgusting, the rudest, the loudest, the most illogical, the most corrupt, and the most arrogant...humans I've ever met.

Having moved to China from Japan, I arrived with a warm heart and a smile, trusting them and respecting them just like they were Japanese people.

But I shocked at the horror that is their "society". After the first 2 years of trying to love them... my thick skin had been warn down. They have earned only hate from my heart.

I can't respect a culture that isn't respectable.

I am a Taiwanese and I hate to be called a "Chinese". I do have some Chinese friends. Even though I enjoy being with my Chinese friends, but I just hate the Chinese people. I don't use the word "hate" in front of them, and I think it is a way of showing my respect. Thankfully, none of them ever claimed "Taiwan is part of China" in front of me neither.

I don't see a problem with swear words. Its a word made up by people to express emotion. Its society that makes these words taboo so if used in the right context I don't see a problem with swear words.

Ok first off these words are made up as all language are so i personally dont see the big deal. 2nd off those words arent blasphemy there profanity. Blasphemy is things like :omg, Jesus Christ etc. blasphemy can also be inverted crosses and other things that "insult god". i find it kinda ironic that the same person who is offended by F**k wel say "omg" all the time....

originaly many modern curse words in the english were in every day use it was only blaspheems that rocked the boat. word are only asstrong as there intended meaning. in modern language curse words are used to strenghten the meaning of a sentence andt the meaning of the woerds should be ingnored.
eg. i fucking well hate that little shithead carries more stenght than i jolly well dislike that anoying chap.

words become 'bad' through many different processes, like semantic drift. i do beleive that the f word meant 'to peirce' way back when and was a sort of battle cry in old english or some other germanic language, and through semantic drift, and what not, it became the swear that it is today.

also, one of my teachers who is from the stone age told us that back in the day 'hey' was as bad as saying f**k or sh*t. nowadays 'hey' doesn't mean much.

"Damn" and "Crap" used to be heinous, now people wouldn't bat an eyelid. In a decade or so, fuck will probably be normal.

It's not like language is causing a downward spiral toward chaos. Besides, everyone throughout history has looked at society and thought "Wow, we're really on a downward slide here compared to my dad's generation." It's mostly an illusion of descent--we're pretty much the same people now as we were 1000 years ago. There are spikes and dips in such issues as sexuality and language, but generally speaking we're pretty much the same.

Besides, if you're letting language offend you instead of the message itself being communicated, you're looking at the wrong thing to blame.

I live in an area where most people know french as a second language, and if i swear in french, it's bad. But when I swear in spanish or german, or japanese... no one cares. I dont get society.

i rarely cuss. i used goddamn alot, i dont consider it a cuss word though. psychologically, people may think they sound tougher when they cuss, but all i see is someone who hasnt matured yet.

I think cussing is bad. I don't cuss but my dad always cuss every sentence he says. When people or my dad cuss at me, I feel very angry. I think those words are very strong to me. I feel that they don't respect me. My friends do too, but I know when they just say it for fun. If they yell at me for real and say bad word. I'll be mad.
