Did those russian cops do the right thing

I just watched that video of Pussy Riot getting beat up...and...well their performance was embarrassing, I know Russia is a corrupt country and something should be done but I think Pussy Riot are cringeworthy, I didn't really feel bad for them.

Just because you project embarrassment onto someone, that doesn't mean they deserve to get beaten up or that their points are not valid.

And just exactly what "something should be done" and by whom? Whose business is it to interfere in the internal affairs of a sovereign nation?
    Are you Geo dumbass Bush?
It's none of yours, ours or anybody else's business outside of Russia, how they care to handle their own internal affairs.
And just to make YOU happy, I'm sure, the Russian police have arrested the man who beat that girl, and they say that they will hold him accountable, whatever that means in Russia.

Being human is all that is needed to care about human rights.

Wisest answer I've seen on IIN today. Thank you for restoring my faith in the ability of humans to think about humanity.

Nice answer. Maybe you don't even need to be human. All you need to be alive and have a heart.

I'd agree with that. A non-human being with a consciousness would also be capable of caring about human rights. Somewhat like a male can care about the rights of women or vice versa.

I don't know if there is really any other consciousnesses on Earth capable of that though. Whales and large octopi might have the intelligence to achieve that but they wouldn't be informed or able to communicate it. AIs probably will one day but they don't exist as of yet.

And how would you react if, say China, decided they didn't like how we treated our citizens and decided to something? Welcome them with open arms, or tell them to mind their own business? If they embargoed the US, we'd be economically destroyed in less than a month.
Let's all of us get our "human rights" issues settled, before we run around telling others how they should handle theirs. The US is certainly not a shining example of respecting "human rights", is it?

I would like to think citizens of the world act on their own conscience and understand enough about world affairs to make a valid judgement. If they are not informed enough, it's initially an issue for the country that educated them, but then becomes an issue for the rest of the world that has to deal with a country that is lacking awareness of the wider picture or lacking the ability to discuss it.

The question of what should we do about it, is a seperate question, and not to be confused with condemning the governmemtal actions of another country....a lot of differemt responses can be fashioned...the absolute last resort is invasion....usually if it is a small incident you can condemn on the floor of the UN ...all the way to trade agreements and embargoes, etc.

I would look at their argument and see if it has merit, like a rational person.
The US's economic fragility is not actually the fault of China and to be honest if they want to stop trading it is in the end their decision. Time for the US to take some responsibility for its situation rather then look in fear and isolation at other countries as if the problems of the US come from the imaginary actions of enemies.

Yes humanity should get its human rights issues settled. You want to draw down human rights to imaginary lines on a map, there is a real world out there that exists beyond the tribal mentality of nation-states. It is humanity you are truly a part of not the social framework forced upon you by a government that cares nothing for you beyond using you as a tool to further their own power.

Of course, we all understand that these girls went there, to a place with very heavy security because of very real terrorist threats, just to bring a response that would get them the publicity they got, being political activists.
The Russians would have been much wiser to ignore them, and the whole thing would have been a non-event.
But I guess if you're going to pull the bear's tail, you should expect to get mauled.
