Did i make the right choice?

I applied for a job and in the interview I came to find out that the compulsory requirements of the job is shaving your head. I am a 23 year old woman and to me that is a huge sacrifice, a woman's hair is her crowning glory and cutting it would be like cutting off a piece of my body. After asking advice from my parents they said that "hair grows back" but I am black and it doesn't grow (haven't cut my hair since I was 15 & its only shoulder length). The job pays well I mean really well but in the end shaving my head was a sacrifice I can't make especially after slaving away at university for 4 years only to end up shaving my head in order to get a job & deep in much heart I didn't really want this particular job. Did I make the right decision?

What the f**k kind of job requires a bald woman? Is this a wind up? If not then the prospective employer should be taken to an employment tribunal.

I've lost jobs, failed to get jobs, been demoted and generally ignored by quite a few women I was attracted to, because of my beard. But it's been hanging out on my face in various shapes and sizes since my sophomore year of high school and I just couldn't imagine shaving. I'm not sure there is anyone alive today that knew me before I was bearded.
Anyway, I think you have made the right choice, as I can't see an employer who asks you to shave your head as a reasonable person to work for, no matter how much money they offer. What's the next thing they will require? No shoes? No bras? No deodorant? ugh.

I kind of agree. The only jobs I can think of are actress or military related. But with actress, they wear bald caps and with military..you're still allowed some hair unless it's I don't know what.

Why don't you just get a wig? I mean shit, I know some black girls look way too fucking... Anglo with their hair selections but if you do that shit right, it looks amazing. You'll probably trip once you realize how much time you wasted trying to get your hair to do what you want. I know what kind of stuff you have to do with it, that shit is intense. You don't need that trouble lol.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the job was being a wig model?

    Curious what job is it?
And I'd say that if you don't really want the job, don't make a sacrifice like that ...not unless you have a starving family to support.

Sounds like you're an actress. If this is the case, why not wear a bald cap? If it's the military and you aren't sure...I don't think you made the right choice.

  • To shave it all off as in end up bald. As for the reason I can't say it without revealing too much, might end up in trouble (seriously).

Getting your hair cut really isn't that big of a deal. How much were they asking you to shave off exactly, and for what reason?
