Did i do anything wrong in this situation?

I feel like I should of just wrote a note and for some reason feel like a "tattler" for telling the supervisor this which I'm friends with. He always makes sure that everything is going alright in the kitchen and is rather helpful. :)

I'm an AM Cook in a kitchen and I fill in for the other AM Cook's days off. But Friday I was serving sausage gravy and biscuits for breakfast. When breakfast was pretty much done one of the servers came to have some breakfast and I was standing next to her. She grabbed a biscuit out of the container and it had mold on it. The other AM Cook had it labeled that he made them the other day. When I was serving them I never had seen any mold on them. I felt awful that I served them. You should NEVER serve something like that.

But a few days later which was today I ended up saying something about it to the supervisor of that kitchen which this place has 5 kitchens. I was going to write a note to the AM Cook but the supervisor said he would say something about it to the Cook.

    I'd have probably gone to the other cook and said "hey you fucked up the other day...", giving the benefit of the doubt and keeping mangement out of it.

    If it happened again, then it's time to tell the boss.

    • Yeah, I thought that would of been better. But it just kind of randomly came out of my mouth when I was talking to him. ha. I hardly ever see the other AM Cook. He himself is a weasel though and I most certainly don't want to be like him. He is always telling on people to the boss; who is the top chef. And my supervisor isn't the top chef there.

    You did the noble thing. If you do not want your identity or another person's identity to be compromised, you can say it in a different fashion. You could have just said that you saw mold on the biscuits even though they were only days old. You are not putting the blame on anyone like that.

    You atleast did the right thing about bringing it to someones attention. with 5 kitchens im sure control over quality can get suspicious at times but then again, quality shouldnt ever be suspicious anyways
