Did a post written by someone else on is it normal affect your life?

As in, did you ever come across a post or comments on a post that was NOT your own, but left a lasting impression or changed an outlook you had on things? In a way that had some real effect on your everyday life sometime?

just to give examples:
reading something about relationship stuff on IIN, then using that information in a real life date?
reading something about a fetish you also have being rather popular, thus finding the courage to bring it up to a partner?
reading a poll statistic and use the information it had to base a decision in offline life on it?

As said, it's specifically about OTHER peoples posts, not your own.
If you feel like it, feel free to specify which post had the most real influence on you and how so.

Yes, indeed, and i wouldn't have thought of the question myself. 3
Yes, it happened, and i wondered about the question myself. 5
I think some outlooks may have changed, but no real effect on my life. 16
No, only my own questions or poll results had any effect on my life. 3
No, nothing on IIN has changed something about my offline life to date 12
Not a post, but a certain user changed my outlook over time:(Who?) 0
Other, i shall comment. 1
I'm just on IIN to troll. And I find this hard to masturbate to. 8
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Not quite like the examples you've given, but one of the stories that really "got" me on here was one about a girl struggling with anorexia. A lot of times, I'll see a serious story with little or no replies from the OP, or a few updates followed by radio silence.

This girl had kept up with updating her post, updating her condition, and her thank you to the IIN community choked me right the hell up. Just knowing that she beat anorexia because of what people here did for her... I hope this site has helped many more people.

Not really. But I do think other people have. Other than to ask questions, IIN is a great way to learn new things and listen to different opinions. I've seen some people here give this use to the site: Just to find out things or listen to what people have to say. It's a good thing, though. I've never felt how you described above, but by sitting here and watching people talk I've learned a lot.

Not entirely, but I have seen posts that have made me think. I generally am not bothered by opposing opinions, in fact, I embrace them. In some facets, they strengthen my own opinion and in some facets, they make me rethink opinions I once thought to be right.

That's one thing that I like about this website, the diverse opinions. I'm 20, and I believe that I have much time to solidify my opinions so in the mean time, I am giving myself room to "find my way", so to speak. I have established many beliefs already, but having many diverse friends IRL and hearing diverse opinions here puts my base of knowledge and truth into a state of fluidity in which I am willing to accept different opinions as plausible as opposed to fearing them.

What has really struck me is issues of sexual preferences and the way some people conduct themselves sexually as well as issues of tolerance and I feel that the more I read and explore, here and everywhere else, the closer I come to the truth.

Not changed my life, per se, but maybe my attitudes. My view of the world is pretty much well entrenched and reinforced by now but someone on the site speaks very interestingly about religion, and her own faith in particular, and while I'd hope I've always been open-minded enough to listen to anyone, it was certainly worth listening to her.

I've learnt a few things from individuals and got to understand a bit more about things I haven't experienced (contrary to popular belief, I don't have a friend or ex-girlfriend for every single situation. :P Although I do have many and have seen too much first-hand).

Learnt a bit about pack mentality too. It's very interesting to just watch IIN sometimes. It would be even more interesting had I never posted anything myself. I sometimes see people answering questions based on my earlier answers, which is flattering but slightly weird to me. And I sometimes see things happen where I think (rightly or wrongly), my influence was involved.

In terms of a single post, though, only one comes to mind. Normally insults rolls off my back. Something would have to be exceptionally vicious and cruel to get through but something did and it did change me. If I was terminally ill, I probably would have talked about it here. But now, I wouldn't.

I've learned a lot on here, both negative and positive. It's definitely changed my life, but it's a cumulative effect, not just due to one post in particular.

I'm sure it's had an effect on me, but nothing drastic. I've never had an epiphany on here or anything like that, if that's what you mean. But I'd most likely be a little bit different if I never discovered IIN.

Anybody who posts with some frequency will have been impacted by the stories. There is no one paticular story that changed my viewpoint or opinion on a subject, but I do get a better understanding of human behavior in general by watching people react.

She even told me i could be possessive about her, so i'll not back down! You want her, you have to go through me...or rather, because that would be too easy, you need an OK from me AND her. Fat chance of that happening, so back down....BOTH of you.

Cuntsman has a ring to it.

You know the phrase certain lads use out on the town whilst drunk? "On the hunt for cunt". I guess if you're 'on the hunt for cunt', you could be described as a cuntsman?

I guess this site truely has helped me somewhat. I remember I was in a bad depressed phase there for a while, which was when I joined this site. But after seeing other stories and see other peoples opinions and comments it helped me somewhat.

I feel so much better now than I did about half a year ago.

I've also learned quite a bit on here.

This place verifies many of my thoughts, as well as helps me to see other things more clearly.
There are some users and/or comments that irritate me based on their lack of evidence or common sense applied to the argument, but thankfully there those intelligent ones who balance it out.
