I am a stay at home mom and my husband has recently lost his job. Whenever I go out, I make sure that my appearance is as destitute as possible. I dress in raggedy clothing, my hair is unkempt, and I try to look as frail as possible. This has resulted in several free handouts, including someone paying for my grocery bill. is it normal to use this as a way to feed my children?
Maybe if u tried to dress the part of somebody professional then instead of being felt sorry for and getting scraps, maybe u could get a job instead.
No this not normal, but many do this. There is help for you and your family though, just seek it out. Government help, local help, and church's if you seek a membership, even more. Good luck with choices and getting your life back on track

There is no excuse for unemployment for persons who are physically and mentally capable.
The primary reason for unemployment, lies solely with the so-called professionals in politics. Many of these persons are Unenlightened.
Please do not be judgmental towards people by saying there is no excuse for unemployment. I am very fortunate never to have faced being unemployed however I would never be smug or look down my nose at anyone as I know that people are losing their jobs everyday and I could be next and I never forget that, and you could be next, too. x
I think he/she is referring to the underclass; not people who lose their jobs.

In an Enlightened society, there is no 'class'. Every person lives and works to their highest potential.
Again, the political elite are Unenlightened. Every person who is physically and/ or mentally competent, should be gainfully employed in one way or another. There is no excuse for not doing so. The primary reason for the way it currently is, GREED, plain and simple.
A 'job' is not employment. A 'job' is only part of the work that needs to be accomplished. Don't let yourself become brainwashed by the Unenlightened few.
Well as mum you will do whatever in takes to feed your children, so yes I suppose it is normal. We all do what we have to in order to survive and you are not going to let your children go hungary in the name of pride, are you. If I ever came out of work I would do absolutly anything to feed my child, wouldn't any mum.? xx

I'd donate them to your family
I like helping those in need
and I don't care if you choose to stay unemployed or not
I don't judge people who stay at home as "lazy"
but you see I don't have millions
I wish I could
then I'd SHOWER everybody who needs money and assistance
with it and offer my services
but God/Fate/The Universe

doesn't seem to allow me to play that role
YET
When I am showered with money and abndance
I'll SHARE it with the world and keep very little for me
because when I give I get the GREATEST reward, not when I get paid with paychecks, but when I see people feel Happiness and Hope again.
So keep praying that I manage to convince God/The Universe to let me have all that money!!!
You try and do anything to help your kids. I do think it's a bit dishonest, but you do need help.
Yes it is normal to do this. Are you eligible for aid or can you find work? Has your husband looked into unemployment?
No. You need professional help. Instead of taking innocent people for advantage, why don't YOU go out and look for a job. If your husband still can't find work he can become a stay at home dad.
Have you tried hanging out at the highway off ramp at the light? All you need is a tattered cardboard sign.
I thought of taking up that profession as well. Getting paid to have sexy time. Think I am in the wrong career. x
A better option would probably be to become a dominatrix. You can make quite a lot of money if you do the job right.
