Dealth penalty or life sentence?

I don't understand why some people are willing to fight so much for life...(go to trial and plead not guilty and everything) and spend the whole of it locked behind bars? Isn't this existence kind of pointless? Personally if i murdered someone and i were given a choice of death (aka freedom) vs having everything taken away and living under constant guilt plus the condemnation of my family and society, i would no doubt choose the first

        Thanks for pointing that out. I also thought it said "penis", but it could say "pen is".
